Marketing Executive

We have an exciting opportunity for a Marketing Executive to join our growing Marketing team, based in the A&O Shearman Abu Dhabi office.
Our marketing teams contribute to the setting and achievement of the firm's business objectives, which includes supporting our partners and associates in their pursuit of becoming our clients' trusted advisers, building and maintaining long-lasting, deep institutional client relationships, winning new clients, increasing the visibility of the firm globally, and positioning the firm as the thought leader and most advanced law firm among the global elite law firms. The function works as one team across the globe with very close collaboration between the central groups and professionals supporting offices, practice groups, sectors and clients.
The Marketing Executive role sits within the marketing function in the META region, based in Abu Dhabi but working closely with the Dubai based team as a cohesive UAE function.
We have business development (BD) and marketing teams embedded in, and dedicated to supporting, the META practice and sector groups. This role primarily supports multiple practice groups, working with the Senior Marketing Manager and Marketing Manager in the Middle East region (of META) specifically, including Corporate (M&A, ECM, DDIT), Disputes, Real Estate, Global Financial Markets and FinReg.
The role will be involved in the day-to-day business development support for the Corporate (M&A, ECM, DDIT), Disputes, Real Estate, Global Financial Markets and FinReg groups.
What you will do
- Proposals - take a supporting - and where possible leading - role in preparing proposals, pitch presentations and credentials statements for the Corporate (M&A, ECM, DDIT), Disputes, Real Estate, Global Financial Markets and FinReg groups. Input into documents prepared by other practice groups and offices requiring the relevant practice group expertise. Work with colleagues to capture proposal outcomes.
- Directories and awards - lead the directories and awards process for the relevant practice groups, including Chambers, Legal 500, IFLR1000, IFN, and others. This includes collecting relevant input, preparing drafts, and assisting with follow-up communication with directories' teams and fee earners.
- Market and client research - assist with market and client intelligence, including pipeline deals, major players, market shares, key client contact moves, and developments. Provide this information to the relevant team member to support business planning activities.
- Client events and hospitality - assist with cross-practice and regional events for fee earners and the CRM team.
- Client account management - assist partners, associates and marketing colleagues in the development of strategic client relationships
- BD tactics - responsible for the timeliness, consistency and quality of BD tools, work with PAs and the BD team to help with email distribution and maintaining lists of contacts for the relevant practice groups.
- Master documents - maintain updated collateral, credentials, and CVs; and track and ensure deal information is regularly and accurately captured in the firm's experience system.
- Media - work with the Marketing Team and fee earners on the external profile for the group, including providing help with press releases, campaigns, and LinkedIn posts.
- Additional projects - Opportunity to assist in META and firm wide, departmental or practice area projects.
What you will have
- Graduate (plus commitment to, or existing additional professional marketing/business qualifications)
- Proven marketing experience in a professional services or the legal services sector
- Enthusiasm to develop an understanding of the Corporate (M&A, ECM, DDIT), Disputes, Real Estate, Global Financial Markets and FinReg practices in the Middle East (in terms of the market, the deals, the key players and the competition)
- Strong digital and IT skills
- High attention to detail and a commitment to quality
- Good communication skills - both written and oral
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills - with partners, key associates, and business development colleagues, clients and suppliers
- A team player
- Ability to work to deadlines
