The Material Management Department, is dedicated to addressing complex aviation material needs with precision. Organized into specialized units: Cabin, IFE, Airframe, Engines, Inventory Control, and Operations Support, along with dedicated teams for Rotable Components and Outstation support, we ensure timely availability of spares and components across the network.
Our core responsibilities include managing re-order levels, forecasting needs, inventory management and coordinating with Procurement for prompt deliveries based on our quality and safety standards. Providing 24/7 support for critical / AOG requirements and facilitating outstation operations through pooling and borrowing, our team is committed to operational excellence and cost-effectiveness.
The Materials Planning Controller will be responsible for planning, initial-provisioning and Replenishment of aircraft spares including Rotables, Buyer Furnished Equipment (BFE), Inflight Entertainment (IFE), tools, Consumables and Commercial, in order to meet all Entry into Service (EIS), operational and maintenance requirements in Line and Base Maintenance post retrofit/refresh. Monitor inventory data and statistics to ensure optimum inventory levels and data accuracy while being compliant with material planning and inventory systems, processes and policies.

In This Role You Will
- Plan and execute initial provisioning plan for aircraft and power plant components, Repairable, Expendable, consumable and commercial spares, by analysing manufacturer recommendation as per established requirements/timelines to effectively support fleet EIS. Coordinate with Fleet Technical Management, Maintenance, Procurement, Contracts and other stakeholders to formulate and execute material support plan for EIS.
- Carry out periodic Float/Economical Ordering Quantity reviews of aircraft and engine spares, to meet operational requirements and to support fleet Carry out timely review of scrap cases to replenish inventory where necessary to achieve and maintain the recommended float levels.
- Carry out periodic surplus review to maintain optimum inventory levels as a result of reduction in requirement due to phase out, modifications and/or obsolescence.
- Improve material availability for Line and Base requirements meeting target service levels and timelines, by ensuring in-time material availability of hard time components/spares and maximise yield through effective staggering and forecast. Review and implement effective controls and alerts to avoid nil stock of critical/fast moving items and initiate advance remedial measures for un-interrupted support to maintenance.
- Manage day to day operation, manage and develop the performance of staff by using MyBC system/process to recognise high performance and put effective measures/development plans in place to improve performance while meeting departmental goals.
- Carry out periodic review of EK outstation inventory and optimise stock by utilising all available options including part pooling with other airlines, International Airline Technical Pooling in consideration with the stakeholders recommendation.
- Plan and supervise cycle counting and stocktaking plan of EK Inventory at DXB and Outstation stores, to ensure desired level of accuracy of inventory is maintained. Implement procedures and controls for regular reviews of Gross Stock Value, Service Levels, Inventory Float & Quantities, Usage and other Planning Parameters of Inventory Control Module in ERP system to ensure data accuracy.
- Supervise the actions being taken by the Aircraft On Ground (AOG) Desk to support material shortages across the fleet, both in Dubai and EK outstations, and intervene and assist in critical AOG situations to expedite availability of material.
- Ensure that all materials of heavy maintenance check milestones are maintained as cost efficient and on time. Represent Material Support Section, at Check review meetings and provide an update on all shortages and expediting demands to meet target dates and maintain service level.
- Ensure that thorough reviews are undertaken and components are allocated on time for all End Of Lease (EOL) aircraft, not meeting EOL conditions and obligations.
- Support objectives of supply chain metrics including measurement and control of AOG, Robberies, Shortages, SLAs, Surplus, Deferred Defects, Cycle Time, Backlogs and other KPIs. Escalate critical shortages, service failures and identify corrective actions to maintain performance, productivity and delivery at the agreed level.
- Support periodic audits of inventory parameters including but not limited to Re-order point, Order Quantity, Lead Time, Average Monthly Usage (AMU) and recommend areas to improve metrics.
- Conduct periodic reviews of slow, non-moving and higher month of coverage (MOC) repairable and expendable items of assigned vendors/commodities in order to establish contractual buyback items and seek approval for surplus stock declarations.
To be considered for this role, you must meet the below requirements:
- Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent) preferably in Supply Chain / Maintenance Management.
- 5+ Years of Experience in Engineering Materials & Stores.
- Experience in Airline/MRO Engineering Materials & Stores or 7 yrs Supply Chain Management.
- Experience in an airline or third party maintenance environment.
- Industry experience in various supply chain management is preferable (Warehouse and Logistics, Repairs Management, Material Planning/Support, Inventory Control & Technical Purchasing).
- Knowledge of aircraft components and associated systems, and a sound experience of the ERP (Inventory Management) System.
- Planning and analytical skills.
- Good command of written and spoken English.
