Job Summary: The MEP Engineer is responsible for the design, installation, testing, and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems within construction projects. This role requires a strong understanding of local regulations, industry standards, and best practices, especially in the UAE context. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience working in the UAE, demonstrating expertise in MEP engineering and hands-on project management skills in the region.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and Planning:

• Develop and review MEP design drawings, ensuring compliance with project specifications, local regulations, and safety standards.
• Conduct system load calculations for HVAC, lighting, power, and plumbing.
• Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, and other disciplines to ensure seamless integration of MEP systems within the building structure.
• Review and approve mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design submittals from contractors and suppliers.

Project Management:

• Supervise the installation of MEP systems, ensuring quality control and adherence to schedules.
• Manage and coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers for timely delivery of materials and services.
• Conduct site inspections to monitor progress, resolve issues, and ensure compliance with approved designs.
• Prepare and submit reports on project status, risks, and recommendations.

Testing and Commissioning:

• Oversee the testing and commissioning of MEP systems to ensure they meet all operational requirements.
• Address any deficiencies and collaborate with the project team to implement corrective actions.
• Ensure proper documentation for testing, commissioning, and handover procedures.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

• Provide technical support for the maintenance and operation of MEP systems post-construction.
• Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise with the mechanical, electrical, or plumbing systems during the operational phase.

Compliance and Regulations:

• Ensure all MEP systems are in compliance with local UAE codes and regulations (e.g., Dubai Civil Defence, DEWA, DM, etc.).
• Stay updated on changes to local building codes, environmental regulations, and industry standards.
• Ensure proper documentation and permits are obtained as required.

Collaboration and Communication:

• Liaise with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met.
• Attend meetings and provide expert advice on MEP-related matters.
• Communicate effectively with project teams to resolve any design or construction issues.

Requirements:

Educational Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Experience:

• 4-5 years of experience as an MEP Engineer, specifically in the UAE.
• Experience working on large-scale commercial, residential, or infrastructure projects in the UAE is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with UAE building codes, regulations, and standards.

Technical Skills:

• Proficient in MEP design software (AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
• Ability to perform system calculations and analysis.
• Understanding of energy efficiency and sustainability in MEP systems.

Personal Skills:

• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
• Excellent communication skills in both English and Arabic (preferred).
• Strong organizational and multitasking capabilities.
• Leadership skills to manage a team of engineers and contractors.

Certifications (Preferred but not mandatory):

• Chartered Engineer status or equivalent.
• LEED accreditation or other energy/sustainability certifications.
• UAE-based MEP certifications.
