The Medical Coder is responsible for accurately reviewing and assigning standard codes for diagnoses, procedures, and treatments in compliance with international coding standards and DOH/DHA regulations. The role ensures accurate clinical documentation, supports proper billing and reimbursement, and contributes to maintaining high-quality health information management practices at Amana Healthcare.

The Medical Coder is responsible for accurately reviewing and assigning standard codes for diagnoses, procedures, and treatments in compliance with international coding standards and DOH/DHA regulations. The role ensures accurate clinical documentation, supports proper billing and reimbursement, and contributes to maintaining high-quality health information management practices at Amana Healthcare.
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze medical records to assign accurate ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS codes.
- Ensure coding compliance with DOH/DHA, JCI, and international standards.
- Verify that diagnoses and procedures documented are complete, consistent, and supported.
- Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff to clarify documentation.
- Support accurate billing and reimbursement processes by submitting timely coded data.
- Conduct regular coding audits and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Stay updated with changes in coding guidelines, healthcare regulations, and payer requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Medical Records, or related field.
- Relevant experience in a hospital/medical center environment within UAE.
- Professional coding certification (e.g., CPC, CCS, or equivalent) required.
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS, and medical terminology.
