RAK Academy (Khuzam)

RAK Academy (Khuzam) provides both primary and secondary British and IB learning pathways from Pre-K to Grade 12 for 1300 international and local students.

Secondary School

The school is centrally located in the beautiful and peaceful emirate of Ras Al Khaimah. The British curriculum is offered from Grade 6 (Year 7) to Grade 12 (Year 13). All students study IGCSE courses in Grades 9 and 10 and then can opt to follow an A-level pathway or the International Baccalaureate Pathway in Grades 11 and 12. Students also study additional subjects as stipulated by the Ministry of Education (MOE). RAK Academy is accredited by the British Schools Overseas (BSO) and International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO).

The Role

The secondary school is looking for a positive, driven, and inspirational MFL Teacher with Spanish specialism to join a very successful and vibrant department for Academic Year 25-26.

Essential

• Bachelor’s degree in Spanish.
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Have an excellent understanding of teaching and learning.
• Have a proven track record of excellent classroom and pedagogical practice.
• Experience of teaching GCSE/IGCSE and A-Level courses.
• Be highly proficient in the development and adaptation of curriculum in a core subject.
• Have a broad knowledge of assessment methodology.
• Have a proven record of raising attainment and improving progress.
• Be able to interpret student level data.
• Be highly proficient in the use of technology to support teaching and learning.
• Be a positive and enthusiastic Leader with a ‘growth mindset’.
• Have excellent communications skills.
• Have previous experience in a position of responsibility (not necessarily as a Head of Department).
• Be willing to be fully involved in extra-curricular activities.

Desirable

• Experience of the requirements of the IB Diploma.
• Experience of using Google suite, e.g. Google classroom.
• Ability to ‘drill’ down on whole school and student level data to direct change.
• Ability to direct change management.
• Understand curriculum design and the concept of developing an aspirational, cumulative curriculum.
• Take responsibility for leading the development and resourcing of the curriculum in collaboration with other heads of department.
• Excellent people management skills.
• Be a reflective leader with the ability to think creatively and innovate.
• Have experience of leading a department.
