Job Summary:


Provides specialized evaluation and treatment for patients of all ages with speech, language, cognitive-communicative, voice, swallowing, and complex rehabilitation needs in both adult and pediatric home care settings. Manages a diverse caseload as an autonomous practitioner, applying evidence-based, client-centered approaches and advanced clinical reasoning. Oversees and mentors junior therapists through supervision and performance reviews. Ensures practice aligns with Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DOH) regulations, professional standards, and NMCRH-KC policies, maintaining accountability as a recognized healthcare professional.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Deliver therapy services in line with NMCRH-KC philosophy, policies, and professional occupational therapy standards and ethics.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team and actively contribute to team meetings.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, healthcare professionals, patients, and families regarding service provision.
  • Participate in and contribute to educational programs for patients, families, and staff.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to maintain and enhance clinical skills.
  • Record and report all adverse clinical events, supporting a culture of patient safety.
  • Conduct thorough assessments and risk analyses to establish therapy goals and intervention plans promoting independence.
  • Collaborate with clients and caregivers to select interventions balancing safety, client choice, independence, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Assess needs for specialized equipment and adaptations, ensuring safe installation, training, and usage.
  • Review and approve equipment/adaptation assessments and chair the Equipment & Adaptation Panel when required.
  • Provide expert guidance on therapeutic moving and handling, including manual handling risk assessments.
  • Build therapeutic relationships, overcoming communication barriers with advanced interpersonal skills.
  • Offer emotional support to clients and families adjusting to disability and life changes.
  • Investigate incident reports, implement corrective action plans, and monitor follow-up.
  • Prioritize and manage clinical and administrative duties, supporting junior staff in doing the same.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, including audits, surveys, and needs analyses.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of Department or medical team.
  • Qualifications, Education & Experience:


    • Bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy from an accredited institution.
    • Valid professional license in country of origin and HAAD/DOH license to practice in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
    • Minimum of 2 years’ professional experience in occupational therapy.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English (Arabic an advantage).
    • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
    • Knowledge of services and resources for elderly and disabled individuals.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Skilled in process review and service innovation to meet client and organizational needs.
    • Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement and patient outcomes.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel).
