Operations and Maintenance Engineer

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular inspections and performance assessments of solar and wind energy systems to identify potential issues and optimize operational efficiency.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance plans for solar panels, wind turbines, inverters, and associated equipment to minimize downtime and prolong asset lifespan.
• Perform troubleshooting and diagnostic testing to identify and resolve technical problems, including equipment failures, electrical issues, and communication errors.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external contractors to schedule and execute maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment upgrades in a timely manner.
• Monitor energy production data and performance metrics to identify trends, diagnose performance issues, and implement corrective actions to optimize energy yield.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and industry best practices in all maintenance activities and site operations.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment inspections, and repair work, and generate reports as needed to track performance and compliance.
• Stay informed about emerging technologies, industry trends, and regulatory changes affecting solar and wind energy systems, and recommend innovative solutions to improve efficiency and reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, renewable energy, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in operations and maintenance of solar and wind energy systems, preferably in utility-scale installations.
• Strong technical knowledge of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, wind turbines, inverters, and associated power electronics.
• Proficiency in diagnostic tools, data analysis software, and remote monitoring systems used in renewable energy operations and maintenance.
• Experience with predictive maintenance techniques, reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), and condition monitoring technologies.
• Understanding of electrical systems, including AC and DC power distribution, grid integration, and power electronics.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and implement effective solutions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
• Willingness to work outdoors and in challenging weather conditions, and availability for occasional travel to remote project sites as needed.
