Optical Technician (225-611)

Job Description

As an Optical Technician, you will play a pivotal role in the optical industry by ensuring that customers receive high-quality eyewear that meets their vision care needs. Your expertise will be critical in maintaining the accuracy and precision of optical products, assisting in the assembly and repair of eyewear, and providing customer service. You will work closely with optometrists and other optical professionals to fabricate prescription lenses to specifications, adjust frames, and conduct quality checks. A strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of service are essential for this role. Responsibilities

• Fabricate and assemble prescription lenses according to customer or doctor specifications.
• Conduct precise measurements and alignments for eyewear fittings and adjustments.
• Inspect and verify lenses for accuracy, quality, and optical properties before delivery.
• Maintain optical equipment and tools, ensuring they are in optimal working condition.
• Assist customers in selecting frames that best suit their prescriptions and preferences.
• Collaborate with optometrists to troubleshoot and resolve any prescription discrepancies.
• Perform minor repairs and maintenance on eyewear, such as nose pad replacements.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in an optical environment.
• Manage and organize optical inventory and track lens orders from suppliers.
• Provide excellent customer service, addressing any questions or concerns professionally.
• Keep accurate records of customer prescriptions and eyewear modifications.
• Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in optical lenses and frames.
  
  

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent certification is required for an optical technician.
• Previous experience in an optical lab or retail optical environment is preferred.
• Strong understanding of optics, lens design, and optical machinery operations.
• Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail for accurate eyewear manufacturing.
• Ability to use specialized optical equipment, including lensometers and edgers.
• Good interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service and satisfaction.
