Job Description

Wood is currently recruiting for an experienced Supervisors Civil & Structural for our client Taziz Methanol Project in Abu Dhabi as part of our Project Engineering team within our Oil, Gas & New Energies business.

Due to the nature of the projects and client expectation, the position will be based full time at our client office in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the study and preparation of site development plans including the earthwork calculations as well as the preparation of the BoQs related to the earthworks (excavation and backfill) under the direction of the Lead Civil / Structural Engineer
• Responsible of the Design of underground networks (storm water, sanitary water, oily water etc.)
• Responsible for ensuring that all assigned activities are carried out within the stipulated man-hour budgets and time schedules
• Assist in the preparation of project related standards and job notes on assigned projects
• Perform engineering design calculations and prepares design sketches as required on assigned projects
• Review, comment on and approves drawings related to his field of activity
• Review and comment on supplier and other discipline drawings
• Attend progress meetings and assists in the preparation of project progress reported
• Advise supervising engineer of any slippages and their causes and proposed corrective action and any technical problems and unresolved differences with other groups
• Assist in the preparation of contract requisitions and schedules of quantity for Underground Utilities work on assigned projects
• Liaise with construction personnel and addresses site queries during construction
• Perform such duties as may reasonably be assigned by the lead or supervising Civil Engineer
• Perform all assigned work to agreed standards for safety, health environment and demonstrate a commitment to attaining high levels of HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) performance
• Participate in and advice on all design activities and initiatives, including provision of training / inductions and documentation review
• Verify that all designs are to required standards, that the objectives of the project are met and that the works is completed to the agreed schedule

Expected

• BS in Civil Engineering
• 15 years' minimum industrial experience
• Membership of a professional body and Chartered Engineer is highly desired. This should also include a demonstration of ongoing commitment to that body through Continuous Professional development (CPD)
• The candidate will have considerable experience in Civil Engineering, especially in the Oil and Gas industry
• The candidate must be experienced in EPC organizations in the field of Engineering Design / FEED projects in all aspects of Civil and Structural activities
• Candidate will be fully familiar with terminology used and adopted in the Oil and Gas business
• Candidate will have a range of technical abilities, from the use of engineering and design software such as STAADPro / GTSTRUDL, through to understanding of topographical, geophysical and geotechnical issues
