Principal Engineer

This role will be 15-30 hours per week

As our Principal Engineer, you will be instrumental in supporting a web-based application, leading the design and scaling of continuous data ingestion models, modernizing and extending existing data pipelines, and integrating, training, and deploying state-of-the-art AI models. This role offers the exciting opportunity to tackle complex technical challenges, spearhead innovation, and collaborate closely with a highly skilled team

What we're looking for:

Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

10 years minimum of experience in backend engineering, with a proven track record of designing and implementing complex systems.

Expertise in backend technologies such as Python, Java, etc

Strong focus on AWS (e.g. lambdas, step functions, RDS) required & experience with Databricks.

Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform).

Experience building data lakes & data warehouses.

Experience Working With a Business Operational/financial Tool Required.

Experience as a lead engineer in a start-up environment is highly desired.

Leadership experience, including mentoring, coaching, and guiding engineering teams.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

What you'll be working on:

• Provide technical leadership and guidance to the backend engineering team.
• Drive the development and implementation of best practices, coding standards, and architectural principles.
• Architect scalable and high-performance backend systems that meet current and future business needs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement robust, efficient, and maintainable solutions.
• Conduct regular code reviews to ensure high-quality, maintainable code.
• Mentor and coach team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.:
• Optimize existing backend systems for performance, scalability, and efficiency.
• Implement and advocate for best practices in scaling backend infrastructure.
• Collaborate effectively with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver optimal solutions.
• Communicate technical concepts and decisions to both technical and non-technical team members.
• Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies. Identify opportunities for innovation and research to enhance our backend systems.
