Project Director

Job Scope

The Project Director will lead the full lifecycle of Hypermedia’s architectural, advertising, and fit-out projects across Dubai and the UAE. This strategic role oversees the Project Management (Engineering) team including the Project Manager and Project Coordinator, ensuring seamless planning, execution, and delivery of large-scale projects that integrate engineering precision with creative advertising design.

The ideal candidate is a senior engineer with 10+ years of experience, a PMP-certified leader, and a proven track record in managing multidisciplinary teams. Experience within the media, OOH, or advertising infrastructure industry is a strong advantage. The Project Director will bridge technical and creative teams, translating complex engineering requirements into clear strategies that align with Hypermedia’s vision and commercial goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Project Leadership & Oversight
• Lead the end-to-end management of multiple projects, ensuring full alignment with business objectives, budgets, and timelines.
• Supervise all project stages; from design coordination and authority submissions to construction, testing, and final handover.
• Act as the main point of escalation for project risks, scope changes, and budget deviations, providing strategic guidance and solutions.
• Coordinate between engineering, creative, operations, and client teams to ensure clarity of communication and delivery alignment.
• Prepare executive-level reports and presentations for management and stakeholders to summarize progress, performance, and outcomes.
• Project Governance, Systems & Processes
• Set up and continuously optimize project management processes and workflows, implementing structured systems through project management tools to enhance efficiency, transparency, and accountability.
• Develop and implement governance frameworks covering reporting, risk management, and resource allocation.
• Drive innovation and continuous improvement across project workflows, applying best practices and lessons learned to elevate performance and delivery standards.
• Team Leadership & Development
• Oversee and mentor the Project Manager and Project Coordinator, setting clear goals, reviewing performance, and ensuring team efficiency.
• Foster a high-performance, collaborative culture within the Project Management team, emphasizing accountability, communication, and leadership development.
• RFPs, Tenders & Contract Management
• Oversee and evaluate RFPs and tenders from both technical and commercial perspectives, ensuring accuracy, feasibility, and alignment with company standards.
• Review and negotiate contracts to safeguard project and company interests.
• Review and approve project schedules, technical submissions, and RFP/tender documentation to ensure compliance and readiness.
• Financial Control & Cost Management
• Monitor budget adherence and apply robust cost control measures to maintain financial discipline.
• Approve payment certificates and ensure full transparency of financial reporting.
• Certify subcontractor payments based on verified progress and deliverables, ensuring financial accuracy and fairness.
• Vendor & Subcontractor Oversight
• Oversee relationships with subcontractors, consultants, and external vendors to ensure adherence to Hypermedia’s quality, safety, and performance standards.
• Manage subcontractor onboarding, performance evaluations, and issue resolution to ensure timely, quality-driven project execution.
• Regulatory Compliance & Authority Liaison
• Serve as the main point of contact for all submissions to government and regulatory authorities.
• Ensure compliance with UAE regulations, permitting requirements, and internal QA/QC systems.
• Proactively liaise with authorities to secure timely approvals, resolve issues, and maintain full regulatory alignment across all projects.
  
  

Required Technical Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, or related discipline (required).
• Minimum 10 years of experience in project or program management within architecture, construction, or fit-out industries.
• Proven leadership in managing large-scale or multi-site projects in the UAE.
• PMP certification (mandatory); additional leadership or construction management certifications are a plus.
• Experience in media, digital OOH, or advertising infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, permitting processes, and UAE authority submissions.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Excel, AutoCAD, and project reporting tools.
• Familiarity with budgeting, forecasting, risk management, and performance tracking metrics.
• Valid UAE driving license preferred.
