As a Project Manager – Ports & Maritime, you will lead and oversee a comprehensive Projects Portfolio, covering commercial, technical, operational, and leadership aspects of projects across the Middle East. You will be responsible for the overall delivery of marine projects and lead day-to-day interactions with our clients. Your role includes directing project teams to deliver all aspects of projects and overseeing the technical delivery of tasks, including report preparation and presentation of engineering designs. You will coach junior engineers in technical aspects of marine and coastal engineering, interact and coordinate with Jacobs' global marine and coastal engineering teams, and coordinate resources and support for your project delivery.

In addition, you be working on the following

  • Support Business Development efforts by identifying and pursuing new business opportunities through market research, networking and client referrals
  • Collaborate with Market Leader to develop tailored proposals and presentations that address emerging client needs
  • Establish and monitor key deliverable milestones, gate approvals and acceptance criteria
  • Track progress against baselines; proactively identify and rectify slippages
  • Define and control project scope manage scope definition and change-control processes, ensuring rigorous evaluation of change requests
  • Negotiate scope modifications, secure approvals and update budgets, schedules and resource plans accordingly
  • Lead negotiation of agreements, work orders and sub-consultant/subcontractor contracts
  • Manage contract amendments, extensions and renewals throughout the project lifecycle
  • Define and validate project scopes, objectives, deliverables and success criteria across the portfolio
  • Develop and maintain master schedules, work breakdown structures (WBS) and resource allocation plans
  • Monitor and report on schedule performance (milestone attainment, critical path variances)
  • Track financial health revenue recognition, direct costs, gross margin and forecast vs. actuals
  • Prepare contract claims by coordinating with technical and commercial teams to compile supporting evidence, document losses and quantify impacts
  • Oversee preparation and submission of interim payment applications and final accounts
  • Maintain a comprehensive risk register at both project and portfolio levels
  • Facilitate risk-identification workshops, quantify exposures and assign ownership
  • Enforce QA/QC processes, standards and checklists across the portfolio
  • Support periodic quality audits and design review sessions to ensure compliance with client and regulatory requirements

Here's what you'll need

  • Relevant Degree in Civil, Coastal, Marine or Ocean Engineering from a recognized University
  • Qualified member of a recognized institution or organization (EurIng, ASCE, ICE, IMarEST, etc.)
  • 10 years of relevant experience as Project Manager
  • Project Management training and certification from a recognized institution or organization would be an advantage (PMI, Prince, etc.)
  • 5 years of relevant experience in waterfront developments, beaches, port facilities, waterways and edge coastal protection, namely quay walls, breakwaters, beaches, groynes, revetments, dredging and reclamation
  • Experience in Utilities Infrastructure would be an advantage
  • Experience in both Design and Construction would be an advantage
  • Familiar with Marinas, Coastal Numerical Modeling Studies and Environmental Impact Assessment Studies would be an advantage
  • Strong client facing skills. Ability to communicate confidently and effectively
  • Must be able to manage your own time, as well as your team members to ensure successful delivery of tasks
  • Experience in technical proposals preparation and work winning would be an advantage
