The Role

We are seeking a Project Manager – Test Equipment Development to lead the full lifecycle delivery of custom and automated test systems supporting the verification, validation, and qualification of UAV platforms and their subsystems. This role blends technical depth with project leadership to ensure hardware, software, and simulation-based test solutions are developed to meet aerospace and defense standards. The ideal candidate brings hands-on ATE experience, cross-functional leadership, and a passion for enabling high-quality, mission-critical testing environments.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Delivery

  • Lead planning, execution, and delivery of test equipment projects for UAV airframe, avionics, propulsion, and payload systems
  • Define scope, timelines, milestones, cost plans, and risk mitigation strategies
  • Track KPIs, resolve development bottlenecks, and ensure timely and on-budget delivery

Technical Program Leadership

  • Oversee architecture, design, and deployment of Automated Test Equipment (ATE), HIL systems, diagnostic rigs, and simulation benches
  • Ensure integration with control systems, flight components, and diagnostic software
  • Validate coverage for design verification, environmental stress screening, qualification, and certification

Stakeholder & Supplier Management

  • Align test requirements with engineering, software, and manufacturing teams
  • Manage vendor relationships for equipment design, fabrication, and integration
  • Lead PDRs/CDRs, Factory and Site Acceptance Tests (FAT/SAT), and integration trials

Compliance, Documentation & Quality

  • Ensure test systems meet ISO 17025, DO-160, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, and internal standards
  • Oversee documentation: test specs, calibration reports, SOPs, validation protocols, and user manuals
  • Contribute to lab safety reviews, maintainability assessments, and compliance audits

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Systems Engineering, or related field (REQUIRED)
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering Management or Test Systems Engineering (PREFERRED)

Experience

  • 7–10 years in aerospace/defense engineering
  • At least 5 years in test equipment development
  • Minimum 3 years in project management roles overseeing technical systems delivery
  • Experience with UAV, aviation, or high-reliability military platforms is a strong advantage

Technical Tools

  • Test & Simulation: LabVIEW, MATLAB/Simulink, Python, NI hardware, DAQ systems
  • Communication Protocols: MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 429, CAN, Ethernet
  • Systems: MS Project, Jira, Confluence, DOORS, configuration/document control systems
  • Standards: ISO 17025, DO-160, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461
  • Additional: Exposure to RF testing, embedded diagnostics, interface design, and V&V tools
