Job Brief:
We are looking for a QA/QC Engineer with solid experience in steel fabrication, pressure vessel manufacturing, or construction projects. The role involves reviewing project specifications, establishing and monitoring quality plans, conducting inspections, coordinating with clients and subcontractors, and ensuring compliance with ISO 9001 and project-specific quality requirements.
Job Responsibilities:
- Review project specifications, drawings, and method statements to ensure compliance with quality requirements.
- Establish and monitor inspection and testing plans (ITPs) throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare and review critical quality documents, including NDE procedures, inspection procedures, calibration records for measuring and testing instruments, material traceability records, and SMAR.
- Coordinate with Third-Party Inspection Agencies (TPIA) and clients on quality system implementation and project quality issues.
- Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with ISO 9001 or the company Quality Management System (QMS).
- Review and approve subcontractors’ quality documentation, including method statements, procedures, and materials.
- Perform inspections on incoming materials, in-process works, and completed activities.
- Prepare and maintain QA/QC logs, including inspection requests (IRs), Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), work inspections, and test reports.
- Report non-conformities, investigate root causes, and support corrective and preventive actions.
- Verify and document that all materials, tools, and workmanship meet project specifications and approved standards.
- Coordinate with site engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors to ensure quality requirements are met.
- Maintain complete, organized, and up-to-date QA/QC documentation for project handover.
- Ensure proper filing of test certificates, calibration records, inspection reports, and quality-related correspondence.
Job Requirements:
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline. Certifications in Welding Inspection (CSWIP 3.1) are preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in quality control/assurance roles within pressure vessel manufacturing or construction industries, with strong expertise in inspection and coordination.
- NDE certification (PCN or ASNT Level II in MT, PT, UT, RTFI) is an added advantage. Awareness of ISO 9001-QMS requirements is preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of pressure vessel construction codes (ASME SEC VIII Division 1 & 2), ASME material specifications, welding processes, and fabrication techniques suitable for pressure vessel construction.
