Wood is recruiting for a Renewable Energy Consultant to join our Clean Energy business in Abu Dhabi , supporting renewable energy, energy storage, and hybrid power projects across the Middle East.

Our Clean Energy Centre of Excellence operates globally, and we are expanding our presence in the UAE to support the region’s ambitious energy transition goals. This role will be based in Abu Dhabi , with opportunities for regional travel and collaboration with global teams.

The Role

As a Renewable Energy Consultant (REC) , you will work on technical due diligence and engineering assignments under the guidance of project managers and team leaders. Your role will involve assessing utility-scale clean energy projects for lenders, investors, developers and asset owners, and producing detailed deliverables tailored to client requirements.

You will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and gain experience across a wide range of projects, expanding your expertise within the clean energy sector in the Middle East.

  • Have previous work experience in the renewables industry in a consultancy, developer, investor or utility
  • Understand different renewable energy systems

Typical Responsibilities

  • Assess renewable energy, energy storage, and hybrid projects for stakeholders
  • Work within multi-disciplinary teams on technical due diligence and engineering assignments
  • Attend client meetings and undertake site visits across the Middle East
  • Prepare and deliver high-quality reports within deadlines
  • Support proposal development to secure new projects

Expected:

  • MSc in Renewable Energy or a related field
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrochemistry, or related field
  • Previous experience in renewable energy
  • Strong communication and report writing skills in English
  • Ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365
  • Flexible and proactive approach to project delivery
  • Right to work in the UAE (visa sponsorship available for international candidates)

Desirable:

  • Experience in technical due diligence or renewable energy project development
  • Knowledge of commercial aspects of renewable energy projects
  • Familiarity with risk assessment and mitigation
  • Ability to speak Arabic or another regional language
  • UAE driving license (or willingness to obtain)
