Job Overview
JOB DESCRIPTION
The R&M Technician is responsible for the repair, maintenance, inspection, and refurbishment of Weatherford tools and equipment, including liner hanger systems and wellbore tools. The role supports workshop operations by ensuring all tools are maintained to the highest safety and quality standards before deployment. Senior technicians may also supervise and mentor junior staff.
Responsibilities
Perform disassembly, cleaning, inspection, repair, testing, and reassembly of tools
Maintain and service liner hanger and wellbore clean-out tools per technical manuals and procedures
Attend safety meetings, complete JHAs, and follow HSE protocols
Track work activities using work orders, checklists, and maintenance forms
Operate lifting equipment, forklifts, and cranes (with proper certification)
Prepare tools for shipment and receive inbound equipment
Report equipment issues and troubleshoot mechanical faults
Lead junior team members in senior roles and ensure compliance with SOPs
Participate in continuous improvement (LEAN) initiatives
Ensure work area, tools, and equipment are maintained in safe condition
Skills
Proficiency in mechanical repair and maintenance
Experience with liner hanger systems and wellbore tools
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and work instructions
Time management and quality control analysis
Critical thinking and complex problem-solving
Familiarity with NDT/NDE, hazardous materials, and ATEX guidelines
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Basic computer literacy and documentation accuracy
Physical stamina to handle demanding technical work
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent
4–6+ years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry
Hands-on experience with liner hangers and wellbore tools is required
Certification for forklifts/cranes (preferred for relevant tasks)
Basic computer and math skills
Knowledge of HSE and quality systems in workshop environments
