Key Responsibilities
- Health and Safety Compliance:
- Ensure the workplace adheres to all local, state, and federal health and safety regulations.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Develop and maintain safety policies, procedures, and documentation.
- Training and Awareness:
- Organize and conduct health and safety training sessions for employees, including emergency preparedness and proper use of equipment.
- Promote a safety-first culture by raising awareness and encouraging employee participation.
- Provide guidance and support to staff on health and safety matters.
- Risk Assessment:
- Perform risk assessments to identify potential workplace hazards.
- Implement measures to mitigate risks and improve overall safety standards.
- Monitor and update risk assessments as workplace conditions or regulations change.
- Incident Management:
- Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine causes and recommend preventive measures.
- Prepare detailed reports on incidents and ensure appropriate follow-up actions.
- Maintain accurate records of accidents, injuries, and compliance activities.
- Emergency Preparedness:
- Develop and implement emergency response plans and evacuation procedures.
- Coordinate regular drills to ensure employee preparedness for emergencies.
- Collaborate with local authorities and first responders when necessary.
- Equipment and Workplace Safety:
- Inspect and maintain safety equipment to ensure it is in proper working condition.
- Monitor the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Oversee the safe storage and handling of hazardous materials.
- Bachelors degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, or a related field (preferred).
- Certification in workplace safety (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA, IOSH) is an advantage.
- Proven experience in a safety officer role or similar position.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and training abilities.
- Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- May involve working in various environments such as offices, construction sites, warehouses, or industrial facilities.
- Physical activity such as walking, climbing, or inspecting hazardous areas may be required.
- Some roles may involve irregular hours or on-call duties.
