Senior Accountant - Policies & Governance

Role Overview:

As the Senior Accountant – Policies and Governance, you will contribute to the development, implementation, and enforcement of accounting policies and governance frameworks within the organization.

Your key responsibilities and tasks will include:

• Contribute to the development and update of accounting policies and procedures.
• Ensure that accounting policies align with regulatory requirements, accounting standards, and industry best practices.
• Monitor changes in accounting regulations, standards, and industry guidelines to ensure ongoing compliance.• Implement and enforce accounting policies to maintain compliance.
• Work on the design, implementation, and monitoring of internal control procedures within the accounting function.
• Ensure adherence to internal controls to safeguard financial assets and prevent fraud.
• Support the implementation of governance frameworks within the accounting department.
• Address audit findings related to accounting policies and practices.
• Ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial reporting by enforcing accounting policies.
• Collaborate with financial reporting teams to align practices with accounting standards.
• Maintain accurate documentation of accounting policies and procedures.
• Ensure that policy documentation is accessible and clear for reference and audit purposes.
• Develop and enforce policies related to ethical behavior and financial integrity.
• Collaborate with risk management teams to identify and mitigate accounting-related risks.
• Ensure that accounting policies address potential risk areas.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting policies and governance practices.
• Implement changes to enhance the effectiveness of accounting policies.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure consistency in the application of accounting policies.
• Provide support to departments in understanding and adhering to accounting policies.
• Stay informed about legal developments that may impact accounting practices.
• Develop and implement mechanisms for reporting on compliance with accounting policies.
• Provide support in financial analysis to assess compliance with accounting policies and standards.
• Assist in identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
• Provide the necessary support to the direct manager and perform any other related tasks assigned.

Experience and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting or a related field, with a focus on IPSAS/IFRS.
• Over 4 years of experience, including comprehensive knowledge of all Oracle Accounting Modules, with expertise in the latest updates.
