About The Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Business Intelligence (BI) Developer with a strong background in dashboard development and data analysis to join our team. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience working with BI tools such as Spotfire and Power BI, with a deep understanding of data modelling, complex datasets, and the integration of cloud-based data sources. This role also requires expertise in working with APIs, relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL), and the ability to deliver actionable insights through sophisticated data visualization. Experience in the Oil & Gas domain will be considered a plus.

Responsibilities

Spotfire & Power BI Dashboard Development:

• Spotfire:
• Design and develop interactive Spotfire dashboards, utilizing advanced features like dynamic filtering, custom expressions, data visualization techniques, and Spotfire JavaScript API for customizations.
• Create advanced visualizations such as heatmaps, scatter plots, treemaps, and geospatial maps using Spotfire's in-built visualization capabilities.
• Leverage Spotfire Data Functions for advanced analytics and statistical models, incorporating external R/Python scripts when required.
• Optimize Spotfire performance for large datasets using in-memory data tables, indexed data sources, and efficient aggregation techniques.
• Use Spotfire's Information Links and data connectors to integrate with various data sources (including relational databases, cloud platforms, and REST APIs).
• Power BI:
• Develop interactive and visually appealing dashboards using Power BI Desktop, integrating Power Query for data transformation, and DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) for complex calculations and aggregations.
• Design and deploy custom Power BI reports that use drillthrough, row-level security (RLS), and dynamic slicers to provide targeted insights.
• Leverage Power BI Service for report sharing, collaboration, and integration with Power BI Embedded for embedding reports in applications.
• Develop advanced Power BI models using Tabular Model in Power BI Desktop, optimizing data models for performance and scalability.
• Utilize Power BI’s API for custom integration with external systems or automation of report generation and distribution.
  

Data Analysis And Modelling

• Work as a Data Analyst, transforming raw data into meaningful insights and ensuring alignment with business needs.
• Develop data models, including composite data models, to support complex reporting and analytical requirements.
• Ensure data quality, accuracy, and integrity throughout the development lifecycle by conducting regular audits and validations.
  
  

Database And Cloud Integration

• Develop and optimize SQL queries for Oracle and PostgreSQL databases, ensuring efficient extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of data.
• Integrate data from various cloud sources (Azure, AWS), ensuring smooth data flow and optimized data architecture.
• Utilize Azure Data Lake, AWS S3, or other cloud storage solutions to source data for BI projects.
  
  

REST API Integration

• Work with REST APIs to connect, retrieve, and manage data from external systems and services.
• Handle API-based data extraction, transformation, and integration into BI tools and databases, ensuring data consistency and automation.
  
  

Data Handling & Performance Optimization

• Manage large and complex datasets efficiently, ensuring quick load times and optimized performance of dashboards.
• Optimize BI reports, focusing on data model performance, query optimization, and visualization loading speed.
• Implement best practices for data aggregation, caching, and data slicing in both Spotfire and Power BI to manage performance with large datasets.
  
  

Collaboration & Communication

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, developers, and stakeholders, to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions.
• Provide training and support for end-users on the use of dashboards and reports.
• Document BI reports, processes, and solutions for transparency and knowledge sharing.
  
  

Qualifications

Experience & Expertise:

• 5+ years of experience as a BI Developer, with a focus on dashboard design and development using Spotfire and Power BI.
• Strong experience in Data Analysis, including data wrangling, transformation, and visualization.
• Extensive experience in data modelling, including composite data models, star schema design, and creating optimized data models for BI tools.
• Proven experience working with large, complex datasets and ensuring data integrity.
• Experience working with data in the Oil & Gas industry, such as exploration, production, refinery, or energy analytics, is a plus.
  
  

Technical Skills

• Advanced knowledge of Spotfire features, including dynamic filtering, custom expressions, data functions, and JavaScript API.
• Advanced proficiency in Power BI development, including DAX, Power Query, Tabular models, Power BI Service, and Power BI API.
• Proficiency in querying Oracle and PostgreSQL databases using SQL.
• Strong experience with REST APIs for data integration and automation.
• Exposure to cloud platforms such as Azure and AWS, including data integration and storage solutions.
• Experience with ETL processes and tools for data extraction and transformation.

• Experience with data warehousing and big data technologies.
• Familiarity with data governance and security best practices.
• Certification in BI tools (Spotfire, Power BI, etc.)
• Experience working with Oil & Gas data such as asset management, production optimization, resource management, or field data analytics is highly desirable.
