Job Description Summary

The Senior BIM Engineer (Infrastructure) plays a pivotal role in supporting BIM coordination and project delivery for civil infrastructure projects, including roads, parking, and utilities (dry & wet). Positioned above the BIM Engineer/Modeler and reporting to the BIM Coordinator, this role focuses on integrating multi-disciplinary models, ensuring compliance with ISO 19650 standards, preparing submission packages, conducting clash detection, and maintaining the Common Data Environment (CDE). The Senior BIM Engineer will also handle advanced modeling tasks, LOD customization, point cloud conversions, and IFC management while providing technical guidance to junior BIM team members.

General Responsibilities

BIM Management and Coordination

• Lead and chair BIM coordination meetings with BIM Engineer/Modeler support, across all disciplines (Civil, Structural, MEP, Utilities).
• Manage the Common Data Environment (CDE) using BIM 360/ACC, ensuring proper workflows for model sharing, review, and approval.
• Prepare submission packages including coordinated models, clash reports, QA/QC checklists, TIDP, and MIDP in compliance with ISO 19650.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to BIM Engineers/Modelers on modeling best practices and standards.
  
  

Project Delivery, Software & Standards

• Establish and enforce project-specific BIM standards, including LOD specifications for roads, highways, and wet & dry utilities.
• Coordinate integration of models from multiple teams and contractors.
• Create detailed manholes in Part Builder and customize road assemblies in Assembly Composer.
• Run regular multi-disciplinary clash detection reports using Navisworks Manage.
• Identify, report, and track clashes to resolution, collaborating with engineers to find technical solutions.
• Validate and report model coordination status to the BIM Coordinator and project leadership.
  
  

Point Cloud & Data Management

• Convert point cloud data to BIM models with customizable LOD to meet project requirements.
• Create COBie spreadsheets, map IFC 4.3 files, generate reports, and produce JSON files for IFC submissions.
• Manage as-built condition reports and OEM data..
  
  

Desirable Skills

• Experience in utilities modeling (dry and wet), road assemblies, and point cloud integration.
• Ability to prepare submission packages, clash reports, and manage comprehensive CDE workflows.
  
  

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in BIM for civil infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 19650 standards, LOD specifications, and multi-disciplinary coordination.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
• Software Proficiency: Civil 3D, Navisworks Manage, Dynamo, InfraWorks, BIM 360/ACC, Inventor
• Autodesk Certified Professional (ACP) Certification.
• Understanding of Construction Documentation
