We are currently seeking a Senior Coastal Engineer to join the WSP Maritime Team in the United Arab Emirates.

As a Senior Coastal Engineer working for WSP, you will play a pivotal role in the management, planning, design and execution of marine projects in the UAE and wider gulf region. As such, you should have a strong technical background and a passion for coastal and maritime engineering.

You will be responsible for the overall delivery of marine and coastal projects and take a lead in the day-to-day interaction with our clients. Furthermore, you will be responsible for the management of project teams, deliverance of technical design work, including preparation of calculations, drawings, design report and tender documentation and overseeing the technical delivery of project tasks.

As part of the role, you will also be required to coordinate with other local and international teams and provide mentorship to junior staff in the field of coastal and maritime.

Your new role, what's involved?

• Leading and managing coastal and maritime projects.
• Design of coastal structures (beaches, groynes, breakwaters, revetments, scour protection, dredging and reclamation, concrete armour protection).
• Vessel navigation and mooring studies.
• Coastal planning including coastal edge requirements, marina requirements and layouts and general ad-hoc marine planning support.
• Oversite and preparation of tender packages for maritime works.
• Serve as primary point of contract for clients and strive to achieve their needs.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication and project delivery.
• Mentorship of junior staff in the field of coastal and maritime.
• Technical proposal preparation.
  
  

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in civil engineering, coastal engineering or a related field.
• Charted or working toward chartership with the ICE or similar governing body.
• 8 to 10 years’ experience in coastal engineering with at least 5 years within the Gulf Region. UAE and KSA experience advantageous.
• Familiar with numerical modelling of coastal processes (wave transformation and penetration, hydrodynamics and sediment transport).
• Familiar with CFD and physical modelling is advantageous.
• Familiarity with UAE and KSA maritime regulations and updated industry practices.
• Good confident communication, with good writing and presentation skills.
• Strong client facing skills.
• Ability to lead teams and work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
• Ability to manage your own time and that of your team members to ensure successful delivery of tasks.
• Experience in technical proposal preparation and work winning is advantageous.
