We are currently seeking a Senior Coastal Engineer to join the WSP Maritime Team in Abu Dhabi, within United Arab Emirates.

As a Senior Coastal Engineer working for WSP, you will play a pivotal role in the management, planning, design and execution of marine projects locally and internationally. As such, you should have a strong technical background and a passion for coastal and maritime engineering.

It is expected that many of the works, will primarily support the Ports development teams. As such, an awareness of coastal planning within ports is advantageous and an understanding of the key coastal considerations for safe port operations is a must.

Your new role, what's involved?

• Leading and managing coastal and maritime projects.
• Design and / or review of coastal structures (beaches, groynes, breakwaters, revetments, scour protection, dredging and reclamation, concrete armour protection).
• Review of coastal studies including coastal numerical modelling studies and physical modelling.
• Vessel navigation and mooring studies.
• Coastal planning including coastal edge requirements, vessel navigation and general ad-hoc marine planning support within port facilities.
• Preparation of request for proposals and scope of works for coastal and maritime works.
• Reviewing and advising on constructability and value engineering aspects of coastal structures.
• Interfacing with other Consultants, Contractors, Authorities, Third Parties and other Stakeholders.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication and project delivery.
• Mentorship of junior staff in the field of coastal and maritime.
  
  

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in civil engineering, coastal engineering or a related field.
• Charted or working toward chartership with the ICE or similar governing body.
• 10 years’ experience in coastal engineering with at least 5 years within a similar position in the UAE.
• Familiarity with UAE maritime regulations and industry practices.
• Familiar with numerical modelling of coastal processes (wave transformation and penetration, hydrodynamics and sediment transport).
• Familiar with CFD and physical modelling.
• Familiar with dynamic and static mooring analysis and downtime assessments.
• Experience working on port developments.
• Extensive experience in design, with a focus on marine and coastal projects.
• In-depth knowledge of coastal engineering principles, environmental regulations, and sustainability practices.
• Strong leadership, management, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders and inspire cross-functional collaboration.
• Familiarity with local and international environmental regulations, standards, and best practices relevant to marine and infrastructure projects in the UAE, particularly in Abu Dhabi.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing competing priorities and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
