WSP is seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Manager to join our Transport & Infrastructure team in Abu Dhabi. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead the commercial management of major infrastructure projects across the region, supporting the delivery of world-class transport systems that shape the future of mobility in the UAE.
As Senior Commercial Manager, you will oversee all commercial and contractual aspects of projects, ensuring compliance with WSP policies, client requirements, and industry standards. You will play a key role in project governance, risk management, cost control, and commercial performance across multiple high-value programmes.
Responsibilities
- Lead the commercial management and contract administration of large-scale transport and infrastructure projects in Abu Dhabi and across the UAE.
- Provide strategic commercial leadership and support to project directors, project managers, and technical teams.
- Manage and oversee pre- and post-contract commercial activities, including cost planning, tendering, procurement, contract negotiation, and change management.
- Monitor project financial performance, cost forecasting, and cash flow to ensure alignment with project and business objectives.
- Lead claims management, dispute resolution, and contract close-out processes in coordination with legal and project leadership teams.
- Develop and implement commercial strategies and controls to ensure consistent and efficient delivery across the business.
- Support business development and bid teams in the preparation of proposals, commercial inputs, and risk assessments for new opportunities.
- Mentor and develop junior commercial staff, promoting a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with WSP’s governance framework, client requirements, and relevant commercial standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline; professional membership (MRICS, MCInstCES, etc.) preferred.
- Minimum 15 years’ experience in commercial management, with at least 5 years in the UAE or GCC region.
- Proven track record managing the commercial aspects of major transport and infrastructure projects (roads, highways, bridges, rail, or utilities).
- Strong knowledge of standard forms of contract (FIDIC and bespoke), procurement routes, and cost management principles.
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong business acumen with experience supporting project directors and contributing to strategic decision-making.
- Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
