About The Role

We are looking for a Senior Commercial Specialist to join our growing Finance Team in AIQ. This role is a vital member of the project organization, responsible for supporting the Bid Manager in commercial aspects of various projects. This role involves analysing financial and contractual information, preparing bid documentation, assisting in contract negotiations, and ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations. The Senior Commercial Specialist plays a crucial role in enhancing the organization's competitiveness in the bidding process and contributes to the successful execution of projects.

Responsibilities

  • Bid Preparation: Collaborate with the Bid Manager and cross-functional teams to prepare bid proposals, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with the client's requirements and project scope. This includes reviewing financial estimates, cost models, and commercial terms.
  • Contract Review: Review, analyse, and negotiate contractual terms and conditions with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers. Identify potential risks, assess legal implications, and work with legal teams to finalize contract agreements that protect the interests of the organization.
  • Pricing Strategy: Assist in developing pricing strategies that balance competitiveness with profitability, considering market conditions, costs, and potential risks associated with the project.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis of proposed projects, evaluating revenue projections, cost estimates, and potential cost-saving opportunities. Collaborate with the finance team to ensure the accuracy of financial data and forecasting.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards throughout the bid preparation and project execution phases. Monitor compliance during project implementation and flag any potential issues to relevant stakeholders.
  • Risk Management: Identify commercial and contractual risks associated with project bids and provide recommendations to mitigate these risks effectively.
  • Client Relations: Collaborate with the business development team and bid management to maintain positive client relationships during the bidding process. Respond to client queries regarding commercial aspects and contractual obligations.
  • Document Management: Organize and maintain bid documentation, contract files, and relevant records throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Continuous Improvement: Proactively seek opportunities to improve bid and project processes, streamline workflows, and enhance the organization's overall bidding capabilities.
  • Market Research: Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and market dynamics to identify potential business opportunities and improve the organization's competitiveness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience of at least 8 - 10 years in commercial and contract management, preferably in a project-based environment.
  • Strong understanding of commercial and financial principles, including pricing models and cost analysis.
  • Familiarity with contract terms and conditions, legal aspects, and risk assessment.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret and utilize data effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
  • Adaptability to handle multiple bids and projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
