Job Summary:
The Senior Manager – Taxation is responsible for supporting the VP Taxation in implementing the group’s tax strategy and overseeing all aspects of direct and indirect tax compliance, planning, advisory, and risk management across the organization’s operations. This includes managing VAT, corporate tax, transfer pricing, withholding tax, and other fiscal obligations in the UAE and any applicable jurisdictions. The role requires deep technical knowledge, strong collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, and the ability to align tax strategies with business goals.
Additionally, the role will guide the business through tax audits, regulatory changes, and due diligence related to mergers and acquisitions, while ensuring timely and accurate tax filings and reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Overseeing the end-to-end management of corporate tax, VAT, and other applicable taxes, ensuring full compliance with UAE Federal Tax Authority (FTA) and relevant global jurisdictions.
- Support in developing, implementing and monitoring tax strategies that optimize the group’s tax position while ensuring alignment with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor changes in tax regulations and assess their impact on business operations; advise leadership on necessary adjustments to policies and practices.
- Oversee the preparation and timely submission of VAT returns, corporate tax filings, ESR reports, and any other statutory tax declarations.
- Provide technical expertise and support during tax audits, inquiries, and disputes, liaising with authorities and external advisors as necessary.
- Develop and enforce a robust tax governance framework and maintain comprehensive documentation to support tax positions taken.
- Evaluate cross-border transactions, intercompany pricing, and contracts to ensure compliance with transfer pricing and withholding tax rules.
- Collaborate with finance, legal, supply chain, and business unit heads to advise on tax implications of contracts, new projects, and business initiatives.
- Lead tax due diligence and structuring activities related to mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and restructuring projects.
- Ensure proper tax accounting in financial statements, including provisioning, reconciliations, and disclosures in accordance with IFRS and local GAAP.
- Establish internal controls and automation opportunities for tax processes, increasing efficiency and reducing manual errors.
- Engage with external tax consultants and legal firms for expert opinions and support when required.
- Train and mentor internal finance teams on tax compliance, controls, and evolving legislative developments.
- Proactively identify and mitigate tax-related risks through continuous review and improvement of systems and procedures.
- Represent the company in forums, discussions, or consultations with tax authorities and industry groups, staying
- ahead of tax trends and issues.
Education and Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Law required.
- Professional tax certification (e.g., CTA, ADIT) or accounting qualification (e.g., CA, CPA, ACCA) highly preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of UAE Corporate Tax and VAT laws and regulations.
- Strong understanding of international tax principles, BEPS, and transfer pricing guidelines.
- Expertise in tax accounting, reporting standards, and ERP systems.
- Excellent legal and financial interpretation skills related to tax legislation.
- Ability to analyze complex transactions and identify tax implications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for engaging stakeholders and authorities.
- High attention to detail with excellent organizational and project management abilities.
- Strong leadership skills with the capability to influence cross-functional teams.
