Senior PIC Testing and Characterization Engineer

Job Function: Test and validation of photonic integrated circuits

About The Role

We seek a Senior PIC Testing and Characterization Engineer to lead photonic integrated circuits (PICs) testing and validation. The successful candidate will conduct advanced optical experiments, manage and modernize automated testing setups, develop and execute test protocols, and generate comprehensive test reports.

Key Responsibilities

• Testing and Validation: Perform comprehensive testing of photonic devices, including lasers, modulators, photodetectors, and other components, to validate performance against technical specifications.
• Test Station Development: Operate and maintain automated test stations, enhancing efficiency by automating manual testing procedures.
• Reporting and Documentation: Generate detailed test reports, documenting analysis and findings to inform future improvements.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the R&D team to improve device performance and troubleshoot issues during testing.
• Electronics Handling: Operate electronic equipment for photonic device testing, ensuring proper setup and functioning.
• Lab Maintenance: Manage equipment procurement, inventory, and auditing to maintain operational efficiency.
  
  

Qualifications:

• Educational Background: Ph.D. or M.Sc. in Photonics, Optoelectronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in testing and validating photonic devices, with proven skills in developing and automating testing protocols.
• Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of fibre optics, semiconductor lasers, optical amplifiers, and photodetectors. Proficiency in Python and familiarity with RF and high-speed electronic test equipment.
• Problem-Solving: Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  
  

Optional Requirements:

• Basic knowledge of SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
• Experience in product development and photonic integrated circuit design.
