An opportunity has arisen for a highly experienced Senior/Principal Environmental Consultant to join our business in the UAE to help deliver high-level consultancy services.
The successful candidate’s duties and responsibilities will include:

The SHEQ management team maintains the system and records SHEQ performance to meet company and client expectations. An opportunity has arisen for a highly experienced Senior/Principal Environmental Consultant to join our business in the UAE to help deliver high-level consultancy services.
The successful candidate’s duties and responsibilities will include:
- Project manage and author large scale environmental, social and health impact assessments (ESHIA), strategic environmental assessments (SEA), and environmental and social due diligence audits for major oil and gas clients and industrial facilities in Iraq and other Middle East (ME) regions in line with local and national legislation, standards and guidelines, and relevant international standards, guidelines, and best practices
- Facilitate and chair technical workshops and brainstorming sessions with clients, their engineering consultants (FEED and EPC contractors), operation team to identify impacts and mitigation measures
- Lead BAT and BACT assessments based on internationally recognized BAT tools for oil and gas and industrial projects
- Lead the field of specialism including quantitative assessments if deemed necessary
- Consult with stakeholders and effectively manage sub-consultants
- Attend meetings and workshops with authorities as part of the ESHIA approval process
- Manage major tenders working with other specialists within the ME team and other RSK departments for submission
- Prepare and deliver internal training in their field of expertise
- Maintain client relationships for business development and continuity
- Support the team by providing technical oversight and mentoring junior staff
- Bachelors’ or master’s in engineering discipline (preferably chemical engineers)
- Over 8 years previous experience working in environmental consulting including providing permitting support, environmental monitoring, environmental management planning, compliance audits, modelling and site assessments for energy, industrial and infrastructure clients within the Middle East
- Specialist in a particular discipline – air quality, GHG protocols and climate change, noise, soil and groundwater and well-versed with the quantitative assessments using modelling software or simulation package
- Membership of a relevant professional body (i.e., IChem, IET, IEMA or equivalent) - chartered or working towards chartered status
- Excellent understanding of the ESHIA process, international environmental and social legislation, guidelines and standards, and international project financing mechanisms and implications
- Experience in chairing environmental impact identification (ENVID) workshops for oil and gas industry and other industrial projects
- Experience in providing technical alternatives and solutions to clarifications and design solutions to the clients
- Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams working on a range of environmental inputs across projects
- Experience in negotiating with regulators to achieve the best environmental outcome for the client
- Experience of working on multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent written English and verbal communication, presentation, and organisational skills
- Ability to produce robust and comprehensive written deliverables within the budget
- Proactive networker and active learner
- Full driving license
- This is a full-time post with an employment package commensurate with experience
