Job Purpose
The jobholder is responsible to supervise, coordinate, and lead the Instrumentation & Control team to ensure safe and timely execution of maintenance tasks, thereby enhancing operational efficiency and compliance with HSE standards. This role includes; leading the Instrumentation & Control team to ensure safe and timely execution of maintenance tasks, conducting equipment troubleshooting, supervising installation and repair jobs, monitoring work execution quality, ensuring compliance with HSE standards, providing technical support, conducting risk assessments, inspecting completed jobs, participating in planning and execution of major turnarounds, and maintaining detailed records, all to enhance operational efficiency and support Borouge's business objectives.

Minimum Qualification

This role includes; leading the Instrumentation & Control team to ensure safe and timely execution of maintenance tasks, conducting equipment troubleshooting, supervising installation and repair jobs, monitoring work execution quality, ensuring compliance with HSE standards, providing technical support, conducting risk assessments, inspecting completed jobs, participating in planning and execution of major turnarounds, and maintaining detailed records, all to enhance operational efficiency and support Borouge's business objectives.

Work Activities Supervision
- Supervise, coordinate, troubleshoot, lead, and administrate the Instrumentation & Control team to ensure safe and timely execution of tasks.
- Conduct equipment troubleshooting and decide on corrective actions to ensure proper maintenance.
- Monitor work execution quality and follow up on progress to ensure timely completion.
- Monitor and inspect maintenance contractors to ensure compliance with specified terms.
- Ensure quality procedures, vendor instructions, and HSE requirements are followed to maintain safety and compliance.
- Coordinate with different departments to ensure timely completion of maintenance jobs.
- Provide technical support to shift personnel for job-related requirements8.
- Supervise Instrument and Control maintenance jobs to minimize failures and ensure equipment reliability.
- Conduct task risk assessments to maintain safety at work locations.
- Assess the performance function of SIL instruments and record deviations to ensure functionality.
- Conduct and participate in risk management for interlock defeat requirements to mitigate risks.
- Provide day-to-day instructions for safe job execution to ensure adherence to safety protocols.
- Perform regular toolbox talks to communicate valuable information to the team.
- Ensure HSE critical and non-HSE Instrument and Control systems operate safely and comply with regulations.
- Follow up on calibration of all IQE instruments and maintain proper records as per ISO requirements.
- Support System Engineers in maintaining DCS, ESD, and MCMS system hardware to ensure system integrity.
- Support maintenance requirements related to profitability programs and alarm management to enhance operational efficiency.
- Inspect completed jobs for conformity to statutory and company standards.
- Observe and approve functional tests and equipment run tests to ensure proper operation.
- Verify execution of PM plans for equipment maintenance and preservation.
- Maintain equipment files with datasheets, maintenance logs, and other relevant records.
- Perform visual, close, and detailed inspections of installed Instrument & Control equipment.
- Discuss daily maintenance and start-up schedules with planners and operation teams to optimize resource use.
- Participate in planning and execution of major equipment turnarounds and shutdowns.
- Ensure execution of scheduled pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up maintenance activities.
- Attend interface meetings with project teams and custodian departments to resolve issues.
- Regularly inspect workshops and workplaces for good housekeeping and organization.
- Review tools distributed to the team to ensure availability and proper use.
- Participate in safety audits and area walk-downs as part of the start-up acceptance list.
- Complete detailed technical feedback in SAP for future failure analysis.
- Ensure work orders are properly confirmed, and failure codes are recorded in SAP.
- Maintain records of work performed, progress, and related data for monthly reports.
- Initiate failure reports and support engineers in root cause failure analysis.
- Raise material reservations and assist in receipt and quality check of materials.
- Segregate repairable and non-repairable items and initiate actions for refurbishment
- Determine training needs for team members and ensure adequate on-the-job training for skill development.
- Contribute to the evaluation of contractor technicians before they join the team and follow up on their performance.
- Coordinate with team members to plan annual leave ensuring minimum workforce availability.
- Perform time entry approval for technicians collaborating with the supervisor.
- Participate in the development and review of work instructions and checklists for maintenance works.
- Set up performance contracts with the team of technicians, follow up, and assess performance.
Minimum Qualification
- Diploma or equivalent technical qualifications in Electrical or Control discipline.
- Good command, communication, and technical reporting writing skills in English Language.
- Minimum of 6 - 9 years of relevant experience in installation, repair, testing and maintenance of a wide range equipment items of production facilities in an oil/gas or petrochemical industry.
- 8–12 years of experience in instrumentation and control maintenance within the oil, gas, petrochemical, or polymer production industries.
- Experience in a supervisory or leadership role with a proven track record of managing maintenance teams.
- Strong familiarity with Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), and SCADA systems used in industrial processes.
- Thorough knowledge of HSE requirements for field maintenance jobs.
- Maintenance and troubleshooting experience related to various components related to instrumentation and control systems in Oil & Gas.
- Hands on SAP basic operations related to maintenance.
- Knowledge of Office Software’s like Windows and Microsoft Office tools
- Hands on the documentation and reporting procedures for abnormal conditions.
- Hands on inspecting and tests for the equipment and circuits to identify malfunctions or defects, using wiring diagrams and testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, or ammeters.
- Working knowledge on manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams and engineering personnel to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems and to determine optimum equipment functioning.
- Particularly good knowledge in Control System to conduct the maintenance activity to work on wide range of Instrumentation, Analyser and Control Systems.
- Vast experience in maintenance and troubleshooting of control valves and transmitters.
- Working experience in communicating software is for MCMS, DCS, PLC, ESD, HART communicator and field instrument instruments.
- Knowledge of Hazardous area classifications and explosion protection practices. Awareness about ATEX requirements and field installations.
- Ability to lead and communicate to a team of multi-cultural, multi-national personnels. Professional Certifications Preferred to be certified in one or more of the following, or relevant certification:
- Certified Automation Professional (CAP) from ISA (International Society of Automation).
- Instrument & Control Systems Technician Certification (ISA or equivalent).
- Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) Certification (IEC 61508/61511).
- NEBOSH or IOSH.
