Job Purpose

To examine the training programs and checks of the Pilots; conducts Pilot Proficiency checks for the purpose of skill tests associated with the initial type rating and/or issuance of the ATPL.

Key Result Responsibilities

  • Contributes to the design and implementation of pilots’ effective and timely training programs to meet business operational needs and defined standards of performance delivery prescribed in the Operational Manual Part (D).
  • Ensures all Instructors and Pilot trainees comply with quality requirements and GCAA/CAA regulations at all times and perform according to those standards taking into account safety, efficiency and customer comfort.
  • Partners with the Supervisor/Manager to ensure training programs cover both theoretical and practical/technical aspects to include but not limited to: Initial and Recurrent Trainings, Aircraft Systems and Layout, Simulator, Crew Resources Management.
  • Cooperates with different teams to identify training needs for the Flight Crew and plan training agenda and schedules; supervises the progress of trainings conducted versus the performance of trainees and generates reports to management accordingly.
  • As approved “SFE” provides continuous guidance and support to the Training Instructors, as well as “Leadership” courses and One-To-One coaching sessions to inspire them achieve best results in their area. Observes the performance of the SFI line with their approved KPI.
  • Evaluates the Pilots, First Officers and Second Officers competency and readiness to operate and provides certificates accordingly; maintains records of all certificates and licenses with renewal due dates to ensure recertification before expiry and avoid any suspensions, disqualification or fines.

Key Result Responsibilities - Continued

  • Ensures the Flight Operations Manual is regularly updated, communicated to Pilots and included in the training courses to ensure abidance by regulations and procedures set by the GCAA/CAA, IOSA and other related regulatory bodies.
  • Partners with Chief Pilot, OCC Manager to ensure all necessary notices related to trainings, licensing and qualifying of Pilots are updated, communicated, and fully understood by the respective personnel.
  • Supports the training team through the internal/external audit requirements and checks, ensures availability, update, and compliance of related documents, reports, attendance sheets and records with the approved standards.
  • Contributes to the creation and updating of questions databank to be used in the Pilot selection and evaluation exams. Ensures safety and readiness of facilities, equipment, tools as well as tests and results.
  • Supports the new joiners in the Induction Program on the (LMS) and Simulator trainings; provides guidance and replies to enquiries on content as necessary; attends briefing sessions to evaluate Pilots’ knowledge.
  • Supports other hubs in evaluating training programs and Training Instructors as and when required; conducts training courses to “Third Parties” as per approved SLAs and contracts when and as needed.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Hold or have held a CPL, MPL or ATPL in the appropriate aircraft category.
  • Have completed the proficiency check for the issue of the specific aircraft type rating in an FFS representing the applicable type, within the 12 months preceding the application; and
  • additionally, for an SFI(A) for multi-pilot aeroplanes or SFI(PL), have:
  • at least 1 500 hours flight time as a pilot on multi-pilot aeroplanes or powered-lift, as applicable;
  • completed, as a pilot or as an observer, within the 12 months preceding the application, at least:
  • 3 route sectors on the flight deck of the applicable aircraft type; or
  • 2 line-orientated flight training-based simulator sessions conducted by qualified flight crew on the flight deck of the applicable type. These simulator sessions shall include 2 flights of at least 2 hours each between 2 different aerodromes, and the associated pre-flight planning and de-briefing;
