Responsibilities

Main Responsibilities:

  • Ensures a safe and secure environment that allows for appropriate social, emotional, cultural, and academic growth for all students.
  • Ensures that the MoE instructional program is compatible and compliant with all statutory requirements.
  • Supports the school leadership team in strategic planning and developing policies and procedures for the purpose of achieving the Academy’s vision, strategic intentions, and USPs, and compliance with accreditation guidelines, international education standards, local laws, and regulations.
  • Oversight of operational aspects of the MoE instructional program, ensuring development and quality assurance of the program, including but not limited to curriculum development, extra-curricular activities, faculty and staff evaluation and development, information technology, timetabling/scheduling/cover requirements, etc.
  • Is an advocate and spokesperson for the school to all stakeholders and establishes strong lines of communication with teachers, parents, students, and Aldar Education.
  • Is directly involved in the design and implementation of curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices.
  • Ensures that faculty and staff are provided with the necessary resources and professional development for the successful execution of their assigned duties and responsibilities in cooperation with Aldar Training Academy.
  • Supervise the instructional programs of the school, evaluating lesson plans and observing classes on a regular basis to encourage the use of a variety of instructional strategies and materials consistent with research on learning and child growth and development.
  • To be an exemplar teacher who can coach, model, and train to set the standard for others to aspire to.
  • Ensure that all teachers have submitted the Teacher License Test in cooperation with HR.
  • Works collaboratively with the Aldar Education Group Head of Arabic Language Development, ensuring that school practices relating to MoE instruction are in line with Aldar Education Group.
  • To lead on the organization and administration of the MOE subjects International Benchmark Assessments, analyze examination outcomes, and identify next steps.
  • To be responsible for leading the data analysis of student outcomes across the MOE subjects and any reporting associated with this, alongside the MOE subjects' individual heads of department.


To lead, train, support, and manage department staff:

  • Ensuring that all new staff receive a comprehensive induction.
  • Supporting the continuing professional development of department staff.
  • Keeping up to date with relevant MOE subject developments and subject-specific practice.
  • Facilitating the sharing of good practice through meetings and INSET.
  • Annual Performance Management of colleagues under direct line management.


To lead learning with the department:

  • Providing a vision for learning within the department in line with that of the school and the Learner and Teacher DNA.
  • Leading on curriculum design and sequencing for all MOE subjects.
  • Ensuring high standards of teaching, addressing any issues where teaching falls below the required standards.
  • Ensuring high standards of learning, addressing any issues evident from data analysis, self-review, or ADEK inspection where learning falls below the required standards.
  • Support SEN (POD) and G&T students and ensure that their needs are met through differentiation and high-quality interventions in the subjects.
  • To ensure that the marking students work in accordance with the school marking policy and set targets for progress in accordance with the outcomes and make sure that the teachers are providing feedback of students’ progress as required to facilitate positive students’ development and academic progress.
  • To ensure the quality of teaching in MOE subjects is of the highest standard, ensuring lessons are relevant, engaging, challenging, and support the Al Qurm Learner and Teacher DNA.
  • Ensuring that all courses have schemes of work that enable examination objectives and other whole school objectives to be met. Ensuring that those courses are appropriately resourced.
  • Ensuring that learning is personalized through effective use of assessment data and assessment practice, including focused work for all ability levels.
  • Supporting staff in dealing effectively with student behavior in line with school policy to remove barriers to learning.
  • Ensuring that staff complete school monitoring, recording, and reporting requirements to a high standard.
  • Ensure that the MOE team is actively involved in Pupil Progress Meetings to maximize learning opportunities for all students.


To lead the department's monitoring, evaluation, and review (MER) and improvement planning work:

  • Analyzing the examination results of students working within the subjects, and agreeing and implementing action points
  • Contributing to the Academy’s annual school SEF and School Development Plan
  • Observing lessons through drop-ins, learning walks, and observations
  • Ensuring the effective use of self-review
  • Preparing improvement plans for the department.
  • Developing and leading the department's MER cycle, evaluating outcomes, and implementing next steps to improve the MOE department.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualification

  • A bachelor’s degree in Arabic & Islamic Studies and a Professional diploma in Teaching.
  • Minimum of a Masters/Diploma degree and certification in Educational Leadership or Educational Administration MoE subject related teaching. Minimum of IELSTLevel 6.


Minimum Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years Teaching experience in an international school setting.
  • Experiencein curriculum development, instructional strategies, and standards-based assessment
