We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Technical Buyer (Mechanical Maintenance) with proven experience in the Oil & Gas industry to join our team in Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the procurement of mechanical equipment and materials, ensuring timely delivery, cost-effectiveness, and strict compliance with technical, contractual, and quality requirements.

Job Summary:
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Technical Buyer (Mechanical Maintenance) with proven experience in the Oil & Gas industry to join our team in Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the procurement of mechanical equipment and materials, ensuring timely delivery, cost-effectiveness, and strict compliance with technical, contractual, and quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage end-to-end procurement processes for mechanical equipment and materials.
- Analyze technical specifications and collaborate with engineering teams to ensure procurement aligns with project needs.
- Prepare and issue RFQs, evaluate supplier bids, and conduct commercial and technical assessments.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and delivery terms with vendors.
- Monitor supplier performance and ensure adherence to quality and delivery standards.
- Conduct supplier audits and inspections in coordination with the QA/QC team.
- Ensure all procured items meet project-specific quality standards and international codes (e.g., ASME, API).
- Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation in ERP systems.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, project requirements, and industry standards.
- Support cost control and budgeting efforts by identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from a reputed university
- Minimum 10 years of procurement experience in the Oil & Gas sector, with a focus on mechanical equipment and materials Strong understanding of mechanical systems and components used in oil & gas projects.
- Familiarity with international procurement and quality standards.
- Fluent in English; Arabic is an advantage.
- Proficiency in ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or IFS.
- Skilled in using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Experience with e-procurement platforms and supplier management tools.
- Familiarity with document control systems and project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) is a plus.
- Ability to analyze data and generate reports using Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, charts).
- Experience with mechanical engineering construction projects within the oil & gas industry. Preferably in the Petrochemical, Power and Utilities sector.
- Knowledge of local and regional supplier markets in the UAE with strong understanding of technical specs of equipment and materials
- Professional certifications such as CIPS, PMP, or equivalent are a plus.
- Experience working with QA/QC teams and understanding of inspection and testing procedures.
- Experience with project planning and preparation of detailed procurement plans
- Attention to Detail: Ability to manage complex specifications and ensure accuracy in procurement documentation.
- Problem-Solving: Proactive in identifying procurement challenges and implementing effective solutions.
- Team Collaboration: Works well with cross-functional teams including engineering, QA/QC, and finance.
- Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic project environment with shifting priorities.
- Integrity and Ethics: Demonstrates high standards of professional conduct and transparency in supplier dealings.
- Time Management: Capable of managing multiple procurement activities and meeting tight deadlines.
- Communication: Adept at communicating effectively at all levels with clear presentation of facts and figures to the intended audience
- Confident and Self-Starter: Be able to work independently on projects with partial or full autonomy while adhering to reporting and compliance protocols
- Strong analytical thinking to assess supplier proposals and cost structures.
- Ability to interpret procurement data and generate actionable insights.
- Competence in evaluating market trends and supplier performance metrics.
- Experience in risk assessment and mitigation strategies in procurement planning.
