About The Role
Performs repairs and maintains facility buildings and equipment.
Key Duties And Responsibilities
- Performs painting, carpentry, plumbing, emergency carpet cleaning, and other jobs as necessary.
- Maintains all storage areas, shops, and mechanical areas in a clean, safe, and secure manner, reporting to senior colleagues any corrective actions that need to be taken.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside weather conditions and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Inspect all operating systems and components of the hotel to ensure they are operating properly, efficiently and safely, as directed by Chief Engineer.
- Maintains the grounds, landscaping, and parking areas clean, neat, safe, and attractive.
- Promptly responds to front desk reports of guest problems or concerns and informs the front desk when action is complete so the front desk can perform “Courtesy Call Back” telephone calls.
- Ensures security of any assigned keys.
- Selects correct materials from the engineering store.
- Organize work in a skilled and professional manner.
- Advises senior colleagues promptly of any problems and failures.
- Ensures that work areas are left in safe and tidy conditions.
- Uses mechanical/electrical test equipment and instruments.
- Works on own initiative without full detailed supervision or direction.
- Requests support and direction needed.
- Be familiar with and comply with all relevant Engineering Department policies, processes and procedures.
- Performs other duties that management may from time to time reasonably require.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience preferably in 5 star hotel.
- Various trades like Plumbing, HVAC, Mechanical etc,
- Building Safety & Fire Fighting
- 1 year certificate of competency in electrical and mechanical engineering.
- Desirable with City and Guilds technician certificate in electrical and mechanical engineering.
- Previous experience in hospitality preferred.
- Good command of English language spoken & written
- Demonstrated general mechanical skills are necessary. Basic repair, painting, wall covering, HVAC, electrical work, plumbing, boiler operation, pool maintenance, and general maintenance skills required
- Organized and disciplined, dedicated and loyal (essential)
- Friendly, pleasant and easy to be around (essential)
- Work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines (essential)
- Willing to take personal responsibility for own performance
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
