Eaton is seeking a skilled and customer-focused Utility Application Engineer to support the technical pre-sales, tendering, and application engineering of Eaton’s complete product portfolio within the UAE utility sector. The role will involve working closely with utility companies, consultants, and internal teams to ensure Eaton’s Medium Voltage (MV) & Low Voltage (LV) switchgear, transformers, power quality, automation & control, and grid modernization solutions meet utility requirements and industry standards.

What You’ll Do

Technical Support & Application Engineering:

• Provide technical guidance and application support for Eaton’s utility-focused solutions, ensuring alignment with DEWA, SEWGA, EtihadWE, TAQA Transmission, TAQA Distribution, and other utility specifications.
• Develop optimized technical proposals, configurations, and application recommendations for utility tenders and projects.
• Customize solutions based on utility grid requirements, including AIS & GIS switchgear, SF6-free technology, protection & control systems, and smart grid solutions.
• Ensure compliance with IEC standards, UAE utility specifications, and sustainability requirements.
• Review and validate schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, and single-line diagrams (SLDs) to ensure accuracy and compliance with customer requirements.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD to interpret and modify electrical schematics as needed.
  
  
  

Utility Product Qualification & Approval Process

• Lead the pre-qualification and approval process for Eaton’s products with UAE utilities.
• Prepare and submit technical documentation, type test reports, and compliance certificates.
• Collaborate with product management and R&D teams to incorporate utility feedback into product improvements.
  
  
  

Tendering & Bid Support

• Work closely with the sales, tendering, and proposal teams to prepare competitive technical offers.
• Analyze customer specifications and recommend the best-fit Eaton solutions.
• Provide technical justifications and value-engineering proposals to enhance Eaton’s competitiveness in tenders.
  
  
  

Customer Engagement & Training

• Act as the technical interface between Eaton and utility clients, addressing their queries and providing engineering support.
• Conduct product presentations, training sessions, and technical workshops for utility engineers and consultants.
• Support on-site testing, FAT/SAT, and commissioning activities when required.
  
  
  

Market & Industry Knowledge

• Stay updated on the latest utility grid modernization trends, energy transition, digital switchgear, and sustainability initiatives.
• Provide technical insights and market intelligence to Eaton’s internal teams.
  
  
  

Collaboration & Reporting

• Work closely with sales, product management, R&D, and tendering teams to drive successful project execution.
• Maintain records of customer interactions, technical approvals, and project opportunities in Sales Force.
  
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering preferred.
• 5+ years of experience of application engineering, technical pre-sales, or tendering experience in the utility, power distribution, or electrical equipment sector.
• Knowledge of Utilities and Renewable market is a preferred element.
  
  
  

Skills

• Strong understanding of MV & LV switchgear, transformers, protection & control, power automation, and smart grid solutions.
• Knowledge of SF6-free technology, digital substations, and grid modernization trends.
• Familiarity with utility specifications, IEC standards, and sustainability regulations.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD for reviewing, interpreting, and modifying electrical schematics, SLDs, and panel wiring diagrams.
• Strong technical communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Language: Proficiency in English (Arabic is an advantage).
• UAE driving license preferred.
