The Compliance Officer is responsible for overseeing and monitoring the organization's compliance framework to ensure adherence to applicable laws, regulations, statutory requirements, internal policies, and procedures

Key Responsibilities:

Develop, implement, and maintain an effective compliance management program across the organization.
Identify and assess existing and emerging regulatory and compliance requirements applicable to the institution.
Prepare and execute an annual compliance action plan aligned with the organization's risk profile and strategic objectives.
Periodically review and update compliance plans, policies, and procedures to reflect regulatory and business changes.
Supervise and monitor the effectiveness of the compliance program and recommend improvements where required.
Provide strategic compliance advice and guidance to Senior Management and the Board of Directors.
Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, statutory obligations, regulatory standards, and internal policies
Prepare and submit clear, concise, and timely compliance reports to Senior Management, the Audit Committee, and the Board of Directors.
Provide periodic assurance to Senior Management and the Board regarding the effectiveness of compliance policies and procedures.
Escalate significant compliance issues, breaches, irregularities, and risks to the appropriate governance bodies
Coordinate compliance activities related to internal audits, external audits, regulatory inspections, and examinations

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Law, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, or a related discipline.
Professional certifications in Compliance, Risk Management, Audit, or Governance are preferred (e.g., CRCM, ICA, CAMS, CCEP, or equivalent).

Experience:

Minimum 5-7 years of relevant experience in compliance, risk management, governance, internal audit, regulatory affairs, or a related field.
Experience dealing with regulators, auditors, and senior management.
Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and corporate governance principles.
