Group Engineering Efficiency & Design Assurance Lead

Location: Dubai

About Us

Helios Towers is a leading independent telecommunications infrastructure company, having established one of the most extensive tower portfolios across Africa and the Middle East. We build, own and operate telecom passive infrastructure, enabling mobile network operators to deliver mobile connectivity more quickly, reliably, cost-effectively and with a lower carbon footprint.

Overview

Reporting into Group Engineering, the Group Engineering Efficiency & Design Assurance Lead plays a pivotal role in ensuring that power and hybrid system designs deployed across Helios Towers are practical, safe, maintainable and capable of delivering their intended operational and business-case performance in real-world site conditions.

The role provides independent engineering assurance across design, validation and field execution, acting as the critical bridge between design intent and operational delivery. A core focus of the position is to drive Right-First-Time delivery, improve energy efficiency, reduce diesel generator reliance and accelerate pathways toward zero-DG and net-zero power solutions across the Group.

Role Responsibilities

As the Group Engineering Efficiency & Design Assurance Lead, you will be responsible for:

  • Reviewing and assuring Product Development & Design (PDD) power and hybrid system designs to ensure field practicality, safety, maintainability and operational performance
  • Validating deployed designs to confirm delivery against specifications and expected performance outcomes
  • Supporting proof-of-concept and pilot deployments to assess new technologies, configurations and equipment under live site conditions
  • Developing and supporting business cases for site upgrades, technology changes and design improvements, ensuring clear efficiency gains and improved return on invested capital
  • Assessing asset lifecycle performance and failure trends to identify opportunities for cost avoidance, warranty recovery, life extension and improved total cost of ownership
  • Acting as the link between design and operations by providing structured feedback into standards updates, design improvements and engineering governance processes
  • Identifying and validating fuel reduction and energy efficiency opportunities, supporting reduced DG run hours, zero-DG operation and net-zero power pathways

Requirements For The Role

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Significant experience in power systems engineering within telecoms, energy or infrastructure environments
  • Proven experience in design assurance, engineering validation or technical governance roles with accountability for field performance
  • Hands-on experience delivering pilots, trials or large-scale deployments of power or hybrid energy solutions
  • Strong understanding of telecom site power systems, including generators, batteries, rectifiers, control systems and renewable energy assets
  • Demonstrated ability to apply commercial and financial judgement to engineering decisions, including lifecycle cost analysis and return-on-investment assessment

Desired Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
  • Ability to translate technical standards and designs into clear, field-ready guidance
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills across technical and non-technical teams
  • Experience working across multiple operating companies or regions
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to balance technical excellence with commercial outcomes

Benefits

  • Competitive basic salary
  • Discretionary bonus
  • Medical insurance
  • Life insurance
