Job Title: Subject Matter Expert – Rotating Equipment (Compressors · Pumps · Turbines · Motors · Condition Monitoring · Predictive Maintenance)

Location: Abu Dhabi

Employment Type: Full Time

Programme Context

AVEVA delivers Predictive Analytics, Asset Performance Management, and Process Optimisation solutions across Oil & Gas, Energy, and Industrial operators throughout the Middle East region. These digital solutions monitor critical equipment and operational processes in real time, generating predictive alerts and operational advisories designed to prevent unplanned downtime, extend asset life, improve reliability, and optimize operational performance.

This SME role exists to ensure predictive model outputs are technically interpreted, validated, operationalized, and sustained — converting AI-generated insights into measurable operational, reliability, and financial benefits across customer facilities.

The Job

The Rotating Equipment SME will serve as the technical lead supporting deployment, operational monitoring, sustainment, and continuous value realization of AVEVA Predictive Analytics and Asset Performance solutions deployed across customer operations in the Middle East region.

The role combines deep rotating equipment engineering expertise with predictive maintenance and reliability advisory capabilities to ensure predictive models deliver measurable improvements in equipment reliability, maintenance optimization, uptime, and operational performance.

The SME will work closely with customer operations, maintenance, reliability, inspection, and digital teams throughout the solution lifecycle — from model development and deployment through operational monitoring, optimization, and long-term sustainment.

The role is responsible for translating AI-generated insights into actionable maintenance strategies, operational improvements, and reliability outcomes that improve equipment availability, reduce failures, and optimize asset performance.

Key Responsibilities

Solution Deployment & Model Enablement

  • Support end-to-end deployment and operationalization of AVEVA predictive analytics and asset performance solutions across customer facilities in the Middle East region.
  • Provide rotating equipment engineering subject matter expertise during asset onboarding, solution configuration, and model development phases.
  • Work closely with analytics, data science, product, and delivery teams to ensure predictive models accurately reflect:
    • Equipment operating behaviour
    • Failure mechanisms
    • Maintenance strategies
    • Process conditions
    • Operating envelopes and site conditions
  • Support asset criticality assessments, use case definition, and identification of high-value monitoring opportunities for:
    • Compressors
    • Pumps
    • Turbines
    • Motors
    • Fans and blowers
    • Auxiliary rotating systems
  • Participate in model validation, alert tuning, calibration, and user acceptance testing (UAT) activities prior to go-live.
  • Correlate predictive model outputs with operational and condition monitoring data including:
    • Vibration analysis results
    • Temperature trends
    • Lubrication analysis
    • Performance curves
    • Process conditions
    • Historical maintenance and failure records
  • Validate model outputs against known equipment behaviour, maintenance history, and operational conditions to improve model accuracy and reliability.
  • Provide engineering input to support expansion of predictive monitoring coverage to additional rotating assets and facilities.

Predictive Monitoring, Sustainment & Value Realization

  • Monitor and manage predictive anomaly alerts for deployed rotating equipment assets.
  • Assess alert severity, validate operational impact, and recommend appropriate prioritization and corrective actions.
  • Identify early indicators of:
    • Bearing degradation
    • Seal wear
    • Cavitation
    • Rotor imbalance
    • Misalignment
    • Lubrication issues
    • Impeller fouling
    • Mechanical looseness
  • Recommend proactive maintenance and operational interventions prior to equipment failure or forced outages.
  • Collaborate with customer maintenance, reliability, operations, and engineering teams to plan and execute preventive and corrective activities.
  • Review, validate, and operationalize AI/analytics-driven recommendations generated through deployed AVEVA solutions.
  • Support root cause analysis (RCA), bad actor investigations, and rotating equipment reliability improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure predictive models remain aligned with actual operating conditions, maintenance practices, and asset behaviour throughout the sustainment lifecycle.
  • Act as the primary technical focal point during sustainment and managed service phases for assigned rotating equipment asset portfolios.
  • Support continuous improvement, model refinement, and enhancement of predictive monitoring effectiveness.
  • Track and report reliability and value realization KPIs including:
    • Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF)
    • Unplanned downtime reduction
    • Deferred failures
    • Maintenance cost optimization
    • Equipment availability improvements
  • Participate in governance meetings, technical reviews, workshops, and value realization sessions with customer stakeholders, asset owners, and project management teams.
