DESCRIPTION

The Amazon MENA CX Product team is looking for an analytical and technically skilled business intelligence engineer to join our team. Our team turns disparate, raw data into actionable insights that improve every customer’s ability to securely discover, evaluate, and purchase products and services across the Amazon store. We own the analytics for the customer shopping journey from Search, Navigation, Homepage, Detail Page till Checkout and order placement. We are looking for a Business Intelligence Engineer to lead data analytics and drive critical product decisions for one of these verticals.

We’re looking for a driven individual who loves working with BI tools, and is able to perform multiple large, complex, and business critical analyses that will inform product design and business priorities. This is a role that partners with Product as an equal force, not just as a data source. They need to be comfortable accessing and working with data from multiple sources, automate business critical reports and partner with internal stakeholders to solve complex and broad business problems. They need to shape product design, track experiment success, and look out for defects to further unearth more workstreams for Product to pick up. The successful candidate will have a strong passion for data and analytics, will be a self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity and with the ability to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.

Key job responsibilities

  • Interface/interact with business & finance customers, gathering requirements and delivering complete BI solutions. Helps define the team's BI strategy.
  • Own the design, development, and maintenance of metrics, reports, dashboards, etc. to drive key business decisions across multiple teams.
  • Continually improve ongoing reporting and processes, automating, scaling or simplifying self-service support for customers.
  • Write high quality code to retrieve and analyze our large and complex data sets.
  • Identify patterns in our data and use these insights to make data-driven recommendations to drive topline growth and to improve profitability.
  • Develop an understanding of key business metrics / KPIs and providing clear, compelling analysis that shapes the direction of our business.

A day in the life

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of SQL experience
  • Experience in programming to extract, transform and clean large (multi-TB) data sets
  • Experience in the data/BI space
  • Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs
  • Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python)
  • Experience with theory and practice of design of experiments and statistical analysis of results

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience
  • Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
  • Experience in Statistical Analysis packages such as R, SAS and Matlab
  • Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift
  • Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets
