Compliance Officer

We are currently hiring a Compliance Officer for a client based in Sharjah Media City. The role is responsible for ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, internal policies, and industry standards, particularly related to AML/CTF and Economic Substance Regulation.

Key Responsibilities

• Adhere to internal compliance policies and procedures to meet all regulatory and operational standards.
• Stay informed of updates in AML/CTF laws, regulations, and relevant international and local sanction lists (UN/UAE – TFS).
• Handle key compliance functions such as Know Your Customer (KYC), Ultimate Beneficial Owner (UBO) verification, client identity verification, due diligence, enhanced due diligence, screening, and risk assessments.
• Review and verify client documentation related to licensing activities, jurisdictions, and perform in-depth analysis for identifying red flags and risk factors.
• Validate data provided by clients and third parties using appropriate internal tools and resources.
• Assess and monitor client activities and transactions to identify suspicious behavior.
• Perform accurate risk assessments and identify potential compliance vulnerabilities.
• Recommend mitigating actions and improvements to internal compliance controls based on risk assessments.
• Report irregularities and violations in line with AML/CTF laws and internal procedures.
• Escalate suspicious cases to the Senior Compliance Officer/MLRO for further reporting via GoAML (SAR filing).
• Take corrective actions when necessary and ensure follow-up until resolution.
• Maintain proper documentation and ensure compliance with record-keeping obligations.
• Investigate irregularities, especially relating to Economic Substance (ES), and support the validation and compilation of ES notifications/reports.
• Assist clients with ESR-related inquiries, monitor the ESR portal, and verify submitted information.
• Follow standard compliance frameworks, including committee protocols, delegation of authority, and compliance commitments.
• Carry out any other tasks assigned by the line manager as needed.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• 1–2 years of experience in a compliance role.
• ACAMS certification is a plus.
• Strong understanding of AML laws, regulations, and Economic Substance Regulations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Fluency in English is required; knowledge of additional languages is a plus.
