Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Cost Accountant with a strong background in residential construction projects in the UAE. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing full-cycle accounting activities, including costing, payables, receivables, journal vouchers (JV), reconciliations, and financial reporting. This role requires expertise in cost analysis, budgeting, and financial planning to support project profitability and cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cost Accounting & Analysis: Track, analyze, and report project costs, ensuring alignment with budgets. Identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process supplier invoices, verify payment terms, and manage collections from clients.
- Journal Entries & Reconciliations: Maintain accurate financial records by preparing JVs, reconciling ledgers, and ensuring proper cost allocation.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in preparing project budgets, monitoring financial progress, and providing variance analysis.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly and quarterly reports, including profit and loss statements, cost reports, and financial statements.
- Inventory & Procurement Costing: Monitor material costs, subcontractor expenses, and project-related financial data.
- Compliance & Audit Support: Ensure adherence to financial regulations, tax compliance, and support internal and external audits.
- Coordination with Project Teams: Work closely with project managers, procurement, and finance teams to optimize financial performance.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in cost accounting within the UAE construction industry, specifically in residential projects.
- Strong knowledge of cost control, financial reporting, and accounting standards.
- Proficiency in ERP software and accounting tools used in construction accounting.
- Experience handling full accounting activities, including payables, receivables, JVs, and costing.
- Familiarity with UAE VAT regulations and compliance.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional certification (CMA, CPA, or equivalent) is a plus.
- Experience with construction contracts, WIP accounting, and project cost allocation.
- Knowledge of local banking and financial procedures in the UAE.
