Wood is a global leader in Future Energy technology, strategy and project delivery combining the best of consultancy and engineering to deliver in partnership with clients on a global scale.
Our portfolio spans green, blue and bio-hydrogen projects, renewable, solar, wind and Carbon Capture and Storage projects. This role will exist to direct a multi-discipline team of renewable energy specialists and subject matter experts in hydrogen and carbon capture, helping clients navigate towards a low-carbon future.
The role requires experience in hydrogen and associated hydrogen vectors (Ammonia, Methanol, LOHC), Liquefaction and/or Carbon Capture technologies, ideally with the ability to develop projects from early feasibility through to and including FEED. The role will report to the Head of Decarbonisation. The end market focus will be predominantly on Blue/Green Hydrogen (including renewable power generation) & Ammonia, as well as Carbon Capture & Storage. Secondary markets will include Liquefaction, Regasification, Gas/Waste-to-Liquids and Alternative Power projects.
This is a highly visible, exciting role, where you will have overall responsibility for leading Wood’s Future Energies program delivery in the Middle East. The ideal candidate will be driven to lead and deliver major projects. A highly motivated individual with technical experience and strong business acumen, who is interested in making a mark in a growing international organization, will thrive in this role.
Director Future Energy Middle East is responsible for developing and delivering strategic growth plans to establish and expand the existing Wood business within the Future Energies market. We are looking for an experienced candidate with a strong background in project development and a robust knowledge of industrial decarbonisation, hydrogen production, carbon capture and renewable technologies. The role provides direction and leadership to achieve strategic goals, vision, and shared values through finance, risk management, change leadership, people and culture, stakeholder management, governance, assurance, compliance, and reputation.

Responsibilities
- As a leader develop and implement strategy for growth and penetration in the evolving future energy value chain and related industries
- Lead the establishment of strong and enduring high-level relationships with customers, partners, supply chain, and stakeholders to ensure strategy delivery and position for future opportunities
- Work closely with other Wood market leads for Industrial Decarbonisation, Wind and Onshore Renewables to provide clients with a holistic offering across their decarbonisation needs,
- Contribute to invitation to tender, tender evaluation, and contract negotiation process.
- Contribute to business development activities and assist in securing new projects and opportunities for the company.
- Provide technical and project management oversight to a global range of multi-disciplinary renewable energy and hydrogen projects
- Interface with a team of specialist to progress and deliver projects through feasibility, pre-construction, and construction phases
- Develops and provides direction and leadership for a development team with inclusivity of wider business streams and business units across Wood.
- Promote, represent, and enhance company reputation internally and externally with clients, government, and trade bodies staying abreast of industry developments across the Future Energy market to ensure the company is well-positioned to secure new contracts that come to market
- Recruit and mentor staff to deliver the cutting edge projects in the market
- Development of Wood’s capabilities in the Future Energies market. These responsibilities include:
- Bachelor or Masters degree in a relevant field,
- Minimum 10yrs relevant project delivery experience in renewables, hydrogen, Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage, Power to X: Detailed design and EPC project experience a plus.
- Robust knowledge of hydrogen, renewables, CCUS market trends, renewable project development strategies, and technologies.
- Experience managing consulting or study teams for the execution of projects
- Demonstrated project and engineering management experience with significant leadership ability
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; with the ability to engage and relate to others (internal and external stakeholders) at all levels
- Must have authorization to work lawfully in the Middle East
