Job Description

• Conducts regular safety inspections of the kitchen, public areas, guest rooms, stores, and engineering facilities to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Performs preventive maintenance, breakdown repairs, and constructive works across all hotel areas to maintain optimal functionality of equipment and systems.
• Proposes and recommends upgrading, improvement work, and energy-saving projects to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs.
• Ensures efficient engineering operations are being met, and quality standards are maintained throughout the property.
• Responds promptly to guest complaints and maintenance requests, providing timely and effective solutions.
• Maintains accurate records of all maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs for future reference and auditing purposes.
• Collaborates with other departments to coordinate maintenance schedules and minimise disruptions to hotel operations.
• Monitors and manages inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels are maintained.
• Assists in the development and implementation of energy conservation and sustainability initiatives.
• Provides technical support and guidance to other staff members on equipment operation and maintenance procedures.
• Participates in emergency response procedures and assists in the coordination of evacuation drills.
• Ensures compliance with all relevant local and national regulations pertaining to building maintenance, safety, and environmental standards.
  
  

Qualifications

• Secondary / High school education or equivalent
• Trade Certificate with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar capacity
• Good reading and oral proficiency in English language
• Proven experience in building maintenance, HVAC systems, and electrical systems
• Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations in the hospitality industry
• Proficiency in using computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS)
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Strong leadership and team management abilities
• Valid certifications in relevant technical areas (e.g., electrical, plumbing, or HVAC)
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
• Excellent time management and organisational skills
• Flexibility to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required
• Physical ability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces
• Additional language skills, particularly in languages common among hotel guests, would be advantageous
• Good working knowledge of MS Excel, Word, & PowerPoint
