Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with Senior Mechanical Engineer & Chief System Engineer to define electrical system and subsystem functional and interface requirements.
  • Derives subsystem functional and interface requirements.
  • Develops design concepts and prototypes to confirm requirements and user needs.
  • Develops solution alternatives and conducts trade studies for making design decisions.
  • Researches material and component cost and availability.
  • Creates Electrical Drawings and detailed designs of Electrical systems and hardware. This includes cable harness and routing
  • Creates electrical final drawings and specifications.
  • Creates parts lists.
  • Estimates material, component and assembly costs.
  • Design includes consideration for manufacturing and assembly methods in the design.
  • Develops design schedules and provides progress status metrics.
  • Balances cost, performance, quality, reliability, maintainability, testability, and manufacturability and the overall design risk..
  • Integrates designs or supports integration into next higher level assemblies.
  • Leads testing of produced designs and defines the criteria to established test plans or criteria.
  • Directs and reviews work of associate engineers.
  • Participates and contributes to design reviews.
  • Conforms to the configuration management practices of the company.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronic Engineering or related field, Mechatronics
  • Minimum 3 years experience in detailed design of electrical systems, hardware and software is required..
  • Highly proficient in Electrical CAD tools for design.
  • Demonstrable experience in the development of specific automotive sub-systems required.
  • Experience with military tactical, combat or support ground vehicles preferred
  • Experience in working with multiple discipline projects is preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, team oriented environment with changing priorities and schedules
  • Working knowledge in ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and ISO 15288 is required
