Termly is a remote workforce and is spread across the globe, but is centered primarily in the USA and works US business hours. We’re looking to expand our development team and we're hiring in several new roles. The tech stack includes Ruby, Python, PostgreSQL, and React, with a Kubernetes cloud-based infrastructure. We strive to follow agile principles using Kanban.

A Bit About The Job

We have an existing team in the US and we're expanding to build out a second team in Dubai. This role will help build out the Dubai team and work closely with the US team.

You Will Have 2 Primary Areas Of Focus

• Lead the application development team
• Work as a back-end developer: implement, improve, extend, and maintain Termly applications
  
  

This position will manage the application development team, be a member of the technical leadership team (with the heads of IT, DevOps, QA, and the other AppDev manager), and will report to the VPE.

This is a hybrid (80% remote and 20% in-office) position based out of Dubai, with work hours overlapping US business hours.

Some specific tasks include

• Leadership:
• Hold regular one-on-ones with your team
• Nurture a culture of transparency, technical excellence, empathy, and accountability
• Be responsible for setting and achieving team goals and metrics
• Work with Product, QA, DevOps, and other AppDev leaders to define and execute development strategy
• Development:
• Review and implement technical product requirements
• Solve and track problems through to resolution
• Software development
• On-call assignments are shared across the team, and this role would share that responsibility, and would also be a tier 2 support for fires.
• Work 4 hours of overlap with US Mountain Time business hours to collaborate with the US-based tech team
  

Targeted Qualifications

• Team leadership or management experience
• 5-10+ years of professional software development experience
• Work well with leaders, support folks, ops folks, and developers
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience working on remote teams
• Proficiency in refactoring and unit testing
• Experience with one or more cloud platforms
• Experience working with teams based in the US
