Global Director - Asset Management

Job Purpose

JOB DESCRIPTION

Develop and own systems and strategies to enable and support the business to maximise the value of assets across the lifecycle.

Key Accountabilities

Supporting the Global VP Asset Management, in ‘Maximising the Value of Assets Across the Lifecycle’

• Own, develop and execute Global Strategic Asset Management Plan and Global Fleet Strategies
• Own, develop and sustain Asset Management, Management System integrating asset management into DPWs way or working and Lean Business System
• Ensure cost, risk and performance are appropriately considered in asset investment planning and decision making, and build systems and processes that align objectives, consider long term life cycle planning, and transparent, consistent criteria based decision making
• Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with suppliers, professional providers, and institutions to consistently expose the organisation to new ideas and position DPW as leading the industry in world class asset management practice
• Business Application owner for the 5 Year Plan Platform
• Own yearly Asset Management activities with regions and BUs such as the 5 year plan review
• Measure and report value opportunity and realisation of asset management against baselines
• Own and develop asset management asset information requirements and contribute to the Asset Information Strategy
• Embrace Lean thinking and measure delivery to identify areas of opportunity for improvement and the elimination of waste within asset management

• Fully integrate all the disciplines associated with asset management
• Addressing infrequently encountered issues and problems, outside those encompassed by standards and codes of practice for professional asset management.
• Engagement with strategic asset management issues
• Resolution of complex strategic problems arising from interactions between disciplines, including interaction with stakeholders and the community.
• Strategic integration of all asset management disciplines (theory and practice) to form a complete and consistent system.
• Ability to conceptualise alternative strategic approaches, comprehend and define the risks and benefits of each, using the collective considerations from asset management discipline professionals
• Effective interaction and integration with other disciplines and professions into an effective project or enterprise.
• Identifying, assessing and managing risk, in relation to all the disciplines of asset management, specific and complex projects, the community and the environment
• Ensuring that costs, risks and limitations for all aspects of asset management are properly understood with respect to the desirable outcomes
• Recognising limits to own knowledge and seeking advice to supplement own knowledge and experience.
• Ensure that the highest levels of safety are applied in all activities, demonstrating visible, felt, safety leadership in all interactions with Business Units and colleagues
• Through consistent use and practical application, promote Lean Thinking and Lean Leadership
• Collaborate closely with colleagues from Reliability, R&D, Automation, Energy Management, Operations Optimisation and Systems & Technology, to ensure integrated solutions that deliver long term and short-term Asset Management goals
• Collaborate and build relationships across Head Office, Regional Teams and BU Top Management
• Brief Top Management on progress of Asset Management
• Accountable for leading an engaging teams and stakeholders, providing direction and promoting collaboration
• Act as an ambassador for DP World at all times when working; promoting and demonstrating positive behaviours in harmony with DP World’s Principles, values and culture; ensuring the highest level of safety is applied in all activities; understanding and following DP World’s Code of Conduct and Ethics policies
• Perform other related duties as assigned
  
  

Qualifications, Experience And Skills

• Experience in Asset Management and familiarity of international standards (ISO 5500X) and frameworks
• Minimum 10 years experience in Risk Management (ISO 31000)
• Budget management skills and financial understanding to support long term planning process, CAPEX and OPEX budgeting cycles
• Project Management (PMP Certification – Desired)
• Management experience with respect to EAMS (Maximo) and asset related technologies
• Understanding of Reliability and Lean methodologies
• Degree specialisation in mechanical, electrical and / or electronic discipline (non-technical degrees can be considered, but Asset Management experience must compensate and presentation of papers will be considered favourably) – Master’s level.
• Knowledge of container terminal industry business process, asset reliability, maintenance and repair, systems, finance, integrated technologies, methods, and standards (desirable but not essential), experience in other asset intensive industries will be favorably considered
• Excellent computer literacy
• Auditor and/or business diagnostic experience
• Presentation and facilitation skills
• Great interpersonal skills which afford influence and engagement with all levels of the organisation
• Open mind and positive attitude to bridge divergent needs by playing multiple roles
• Solid change management skills (communication and data-based decision making) and the ability to drive change and win people over
• Excellent knowledge of English language
