Job Description

JOB PURPOSE:

Lead and oversee the compliance function within FAB Asset Management, ensuring adherence to all applicable laws and regulations, with a strong emphasis on asset management compliance. The role requires extensive experience in asset management compliance and a proven track record as a registered compliance officer for the FSRA, DIFC, or within a regulatory regime of a prominent financial centre. The Head of Compliance will also be responsible for maintaining AML policies and procedures as part of the broader compliance framework. Additionally, the role involves holding the position of MLRO and carrying out MLRO responsibilities within the asset management context.

Key Accountabilities

  • Hold the registered Compliance Officer and MLRO roles for the ADGM entity.
  • Ensure the fulfilment of regulatory compliance requirements, particularly applicable to asset management.
  • Conduct quality testing, identify process deficiencies, enhance reporting, recommend corrective actions to meet regulatory and audit requirements, and perform periodic Compliance Risk assessments.
  • Collaborate with internal partners to respond appropriately to escalated compliance matters.
  • Monitor and disseminate compliance regulations and policy changes.
  • Manage direct reporting lines to the board and administrative reporting lines to the CEO.
  • Ensure the effectiveness of Compliance and AML policies, procedures, and controls as part of the overall compliance framework.
  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of compliance systems, including customer and transaction screening.
  • Design and deliver compliance training for business and functional teams.
  • Support the asset management business in providing compliance assessment and advice in relation to new products.
  • Oversee regulatory change management to ensure the business remains compliant with evolving regulations.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of asset management compliance, including relevant laws and regulations.
  • Proven experience as a registered compliance officer for the FSRA, DIFC, or within a regulatory regime of a strong financial centre.
  • Prior experience as an MLRO and carrying out MLRO responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge of the asset management business.
  • Robust understanding of legal and regulatory compliance frameworks.
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good understanding of AML risk, including higher-risk geographies, industries, and products.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement compliance policies, procedures, and internal controls.
