The Role

Surbana Jurong is seeking a technically strong and motivated Principal Engineer – Ports & Marine to join our dynamic team in Abu Dhabi, UAE. This is a key technical leadership role, responsible for driving the successful delivery of marine infrastructure designs across the region, mentoring junior engineers, and contributing to the growth of our Ports & Marine discipline in the Middle East.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the technical delivery of design projects including ports, harbors, quay walls, breakwaters, jetties, and other marine structures.
• Provide specialist input on structural and geotechnical aspects of marine design, ensuring alignment with international standards and client expectations.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across geotechnical, coastal, and environmental domains.
• Review and validate design documentation, calculations, drawings, and reports.
• Manage project deliverables, timelines, and quality in accordance with internal and external requirements.
• Support business development through client engagement, technical proposal development, and presentations.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in the design of ports and marine infrastructure, with a portfolio of successfully delivered projects.
• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil, Coastal, or Structural Engineering.
• Strong command of relevant design software such as PLAXIS, STAAD, Wallap, and AutoCAD; exposure to numerical modelling tools is an advantage.
• Deep understanding of international marine and coastal engineering codes (e.g., BS, Eurocode, PIANC).
