WSP Middle East are looking for a Senior Design Engineer - Coastal or Environmental to join our team in the UAE. The role will responsible in supporting the delivery of environmental studies in accordance with regulatory requirements and obtaining

environmental approvals within the agreed schedule during the preconstruction stage of all projects.

Your new role, what's involved?

Candidate shall be responsible for the review of engineering design deliverables produced by consultants and/or contractors, with the objective of verifying technical soundness, compliance with contract’s requirements and design codes and standards. The deliverables will include but no be limited to:

• Design calculations and studies.
• Design reports (i.e. basis of design, technical notes, etc.).
• Drawings (e.g. design, shop, as-built, etc.).
• Specifications.
• Material approval requests
  
  

The deliverables will mainly be for the design of marine structures (including but not limited to deck-on-pile jetties, gravity quay walls, embedded quay walls, slipways, revetments, breakwaters, etc.), and will be based on international design standards and Abu Dhabi authorities’ requirements.

• Coordinate the timely execution of the deliverable reviews.
• Produce tender design documents, including scope of works, specifications (Performance and/or Technical), tender drawings, completion schedules, etc. and undertaking the technical assessment of the tender proposals.
• Interface with Consultants, Contractors, Authorities, Stakeholders, Third Parties and other internal stakeholders
• Support the Emerging Scope team with new pre-concept and concept design of marine structures.
• Carry out value engineering process, to minimize the CAPEX of new structures, and performing constructability assessments.
• Solve technical and interface issues.
• Attend site visits for ongoing or upcoming projects.
• Carry out the tasks assigned by the Head of Marine and Geotechnical Engineering Team on day to day basis.
• Use the internal DC system for document management.
• Make sensible engineering assumptions and guaranteeing a smooth interface with existing and future infrastructures.
• Be aware of Health, Safety & Environmental issues associated with the design.
  
  

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

• 10 years relevant experience in the project specific field with a minimum of 5 years working in the UAE in a similar position.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural Engineering, or related field
• Extensive experience in design, with a focus on marine and infrastructure projects.
• In-depth knowledge of marine engineering principles, port infrastructure systems, environmental regulations, and sustainability practices
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders and inspire cross-functional collaboration.
• Familiarity with local and international environmental regulations, standards, and best practices relevant to marine and infrastructure projects in the UAE, particularly in Abu Dhabi.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing competing priorities and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
