About The Job

Ensure and participate in performing a variety of Mechanical Static Equipment Engineering duties including mechanical engineering support to EPC projects. Reviews studies of plant change requests and undertake feasibility studies required to incorporate new equipment in existing OPCO plants. Develop/review Mechanical Static Engineering package including various Mechanical Static Engineering deliverables. Prepare / review detailed engineering for static equipment. Prepare / review static discipline engineering package for in-house engineering jobs.

Finalize studies and recommendations on plant integrity issues related to mechanical static discipline

Key Accountabilities

• Provide support to Static Equipment Engineer subordinate(s) for technical issues on a need basis, and to Section Leader for management reporting.
• Prepare or participate effectively in preparing feasibility studies and cost estimation required for new projects or process equipment in the plants including Package equipment/system.
• Prepare and/or review prepared mechanical static engineering studies, analysis and calculations and develop engineering package including various mechanical engineering deliverables like material selection (giving the ASME/ASTM designations), criticality rating, welding specification, heat treatment, cathodic protection, protective coatings and linings, insulation and fireproofing, noise control, lubrication, preservation, spare parts, and Non Destructive Examination/Testing requirements etc.
• Coordinate with the other engineering teams to provide inter-disciplinary inputs/data.
• Review/approve all Mechanical Static design/engineering work carried out by third parties (EPC Contractors/Vendors).
• Witness or verify factory acceptance test and support testing/installation/commissioning for new mechanical static equipment related to projects.
• Participate in HAZID, HAZOP, P&ID Review, 3D Model, Constructability reviews, etc. pertaining to proposed modifications on need basis, including identifying potential operational and safety related problems and proposing appropriate solutions in consultation with.Section Leader.
• Verify that the feasibility study report inputs clearly indicate the technical requirements, optimum solution and details on Mechanical Static Equipment, Material of Construction requirements and BOQ/Cost, and act accordingly.
• Review to ensure that quality of the Mechanical Static engineering package is in line with proposed change, design philosophy and analysis.
• Oversee to ensure that clarity and consistency of comments at various stages of the project are within the project time frame; that quality of engineering support to plant integrity issue is within expected time frame; and that compliance with relevant Company and International engineering standards is constantly maintained.
• Perform other similar or related duties, as required.
  
  

Minimum Requirements

• B.E./B.Sc./B.Tech. – Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum eight (8) years of relevant experience, preferably in the Oil, Gas, Petrochemical or Fertilizer Industry.
• Excellent communication skills and familiar with international industry standards, practices & protocols.
• Conversant with International codes & standards (ASME, API, ANSI, ISO, Design Criteria), OPCO Specifications & Procedures relevant to Mechanical Static& Metallurgical Engineering, installation/ testing / Stamping / commissioning etc.
• Hands on Experience with Mechanical Static Equipment design engineering software tools (PV Elite, CodeCalc, Tanketc.), coating/ lining, fireproofing etc. and various engineering studies/deliverables for Pressure Vessels, Spheres, Silos and Bins, Heaters, Furnaces, Reactors, Columns, Boilers, Storage tanks, Air fin coolers and heat exchangers, Filters and Packaged Equipment.
