The role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Planning Engineer, to support our project controls team.

Wood has been awarded a general engineering contract to support an International Client operator to deliver a portfolio of onshore capital projects by provision of engineering and project management services (including EPC contract management), as well as Supply Chain, Construction and Commissioning support from Wood Iraq and UAE offices.

Projects include both Greenfield and Brownfield modification projects and integrating low-carbon solutions to support our client’s energy transition and emissions reduction goals.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

• Provide the Project Management with accurate monthly cost and progress reports incorporating early warning, forecast completions, together with the critical path and trend analyses.
• To ensure that all work is performed without compromise to quality and in line with the company’s procedures
• To maintain high standard of safety at all times
• Advising project team on cost control, planning & Contract compliance
• Tracking progress & reports against actual cost Approved Baseline Plan
• Preparing any special progress reports, cost reports, and forecasts for team activities
• Assisting in change management process with project leaders and contractors
• Coordinating routine progress reporting
• Participating in reporting on process and cost
• Develop a suitable Work Breakdown Structure covering the project requirements / scope of works
• Develop, baseline, update, and maintain detailed project schedules for various phases of project execution including but not limited to design development, construction, pre-commissioning, and start-up
• Coordinate with client representatives, team members, contractors, subcontractors to consider all project requirements.
• Coordinate and follow up with Project Engineers and other project stakeholders for inputs and updates to required reports and schedules within the required time
• Ability to present cost reports, schedules and manpower histograms to the project team and Client, when required
• Provides training, mentoring and ongoing project controls guidance to project team members.
• Support the development of the Project Controls team members
• Identify and share lessons learned to support continuous improvement of project performance and company operations
• Fair knowledge of planning in terms of schedule integration between Engineering to Procurement and construction
• Hands on experience in the development of EPC schedule during the FEED phase to identify the EPC contractor
• Outgoing and motivated individual who is comfortable working in a collaborative environment.

Expected

• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry
• Graduate Degree along with PMP is preferred
• Experience of working with multi-national and multi-cultural project teams is strongly preferred
• Previous experience of working in the Middle East would be an advantage
• Expert in writing reports
• Familiar with project controls systems
• Good Oral and Communication skills
• Must be able to supervise and delegate
