Senior Telecommunication Design Engineer

What You'll Be Doing

• Performs various engineering and design assignments requiring the application of basic principles and fundamental theories studied in a four-year university engineering program, and available data in the engineering field.
• Prepares or assists in preparing fundamental engineering computations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, surveys, and designs.
• Assists in the preparation of detailed requisitions for material purchase, services, and subcontracts.
• Under the guidance of design and project managers, assists in reviewing third party consultant's drawing submittals and technical bid analyses.
• Assists in the preparation and issuance of specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents.
• Provides input to CAD Designer/Drafters working on the same project. He will be required to carry out CAD related tasks himself while using special 3D software such as Civil3D model creation including clash resolution.
• Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
• The engineer shall be fully aware about all the latest regulations and requirements of Local Telecom Authorities such as Etisalat and Du.
• The engineer shall be independently able to carry out designs of Telecom related works including locations of GSM towers, MMR rooms, duct network, Manholes and Junction Boxes locations and sizes as per latest regulations of local authorities.
• Shall be experienced in sizing calculations for Manholes and ducts based on application requirements.
• Shall be conversant with the IEC, IEEE as well as Etisalat/ Du regulations for the telecom designs.
• Shall have experience of liaising with Etisalat / Du for obtaining NOCs, Design Approvals, etc.
• Experience of other regional authorities such as Bahrain would be an added advantage.
• The engineer shall have basic knowledge and design experience in the ELV systems, such as CCTV, Security, Digital signages, Network designs, Fiber Optic Network designs, specifying requirements of equipment, including CCTV Cameras, ANPR Cameras, Network Switches, firewalls, and network management systems/ software.
• Shall support preparation of detailed technical, commercial and Life Cycle Cost Analysis of various technical alternatives. Shall be able to prepare PowerPoint presentations for the Clients.
  
  
  

What Required Skills You'll Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Telecommunication/ Electrical Engineering (or closely related field) from an accredited institution
• Minimum 8 years experience in Telecommunication / ELV design of large infrastructure projects
• Prior experience working in a consultancy is essential.
• Basic understanding of the Telecommunication and ELV Systems such as CCTV, Access Control, Parking Management, BMS, SCADA systems.
• Fully conversant with the IEC, IEEE, BS standards as well as Local Authority regulations such as Etisalat/ DU and/or other authorities within gulf region.
• Proficiency in utilizing CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering is required.
